Laser Hair Removal - Know Everything About It!

Human beings are considered as the most evolved species on this planet. Though it is said that our ancestors were monkeys, very few of the habits are common between the both. In the process of evolution, civilization has always been a priority. One thing which is similar(though reduced a lot) between humans and monkeys is the hair growth over the body.

Excessive, unwanted hairs on the body(especially face) is a usual problem being faced by everyone. In this fast, competitive world, it brings a social barrier to our identity. This can affect one’s future to a varying extent. Nobody likes to compromise with the future.

There are only two ways to get rid of them: Temporary methods like Waxing, Threading, Shaving, Plucking are associated with pain, thick regrowth of hairs, infections (due to poor hygiene) and life long repetition of the procedure. This costs a lot of precious money and time. These procedures are usually undertaken by Beauty Parlors.

Permanent methods include Laser Hair Reduction. Laser targets the melanin pigment in the hair root, thereby destroying it completely.

Once the client is ready for the procedure, the area is cleaned and marked; the hairs to be treated are shaved. Ice pack can be used for sensitive skin. The probe is placed firmly on the skin and fired. Pricking sensation on the skin may be felt in few cases. Whole body procedure may take a couple of hours. Routine activities can be resumed once the procedure is finished. The next session may take place after a time period of 1 month to 5 years (depending on the sittings already completed).

This is considered the best treatment modality in the approach towards unwanted hairs. Total number of sessions required are few. The procedure is completely safe, effective and hygienic.

We, at SUDEH, always strive to give the best possible results with the most advanced technology and the most suited treatment as per the individual needs.

The treatment involved in hair removal:

Laser treatment is a successful way to remove unwanted hair from your body.  This is a non-invasive method designed specifically to remove unwanted hair from all parts of the body. It is done with the help from long pulse light through the actively cooled ‘cooling tip’ of the laser machine that effectively deactivates unwanted hair follicles, which impairs its growth and selectively damages the root of unwanted hair permanently. During the Light Sheer process, the hair is treated gently while maintaining a healthy and normal appearance of the surrounding tissue.

Steps involved in hair removal treatment:

  1. Usually, the treatment areas are shaved before the few days of hair removal treatment.

  2. An anesthetic cream may be applied on the day of laser treatment.

  3. Both the patient and the doctor must wear sunglasses in order to avoid harmful rays.

  4. The power, size and frequency of the pulse is adjusted in order to optimize the treatment for the patient’s comfort.

  5. The duration of the treatment depends on the size of the area to be treated

  6. The laser uses safe light to remove unwanted hair from all over the body within few minutes.

  7. The entire procedure is guided with the help of a computer.

How long does the treatment take?

The laser treatment may take few minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the area to be treated. Hence the facial hair treatment may take around 10 minutes. Whereas, treatment for back hair or both legs may take up to 60-80 minutes.

Things You Didn't Know About Laser Hair Removal!

Body hair are typically seen as a manly attribution. For this reason, both men and women are constantly trying to keep their body hair free. Common ways of removing body hair includes shaving, waxing and the use of Depilatories. However, none of these techniques can permanently remove hair and hence need to be repeated regularly. The only way to permanently remove body hair is through laser hair removal therapy.

Laser hair removal can be used to address and remove hair on almost any part of the body including the face, arms, legs and bikini line. This procedure involves focusing intense light on the hair follicle pigments known as melanin without affecting the surrounding skin. The melanin absorbs this light energy and converts it to heat energy which in turn stops the stem cells in the hair roots from regenerating. This weakens the hair follicles to the point of falling off.

Hair removal is considered permanent when the hair follicles do not grow back. After the first session, new hair growth is often lighter and less dense than before. On an average, complete hair removal may require 5 to 6 laser sessions. Since laser therapy can be used to address only those follicles that are in the growing stage, these sessions are usually spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. During this time the hair follicles that were in the resting phase can grow out. The number of sessions required also depends on the quality and number of hair follicles, individual’s hormone levels, and metabolism. In some cases where hair growth is very dense, maintenance treatment may be required once in six months or annually.

The procedure is relatively pain free. During the treatment, the patient may experience a faint prick or sensation of warmth. When treating sensitive areas, topical anesthesia may also be used. However, this is rarely needed. This form of laser therapy can take anywhere between 5 to 45 minutes for a single session depending on the amount of area being addressed.

Laser hair removal is considered a safe procedure and has minimal side effects. In some cases, it may cause a temporary change in the color of the skin of the treated area, but this usually resolves itself without medication. This can be prevented by using a good sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection and avoiding exposure to sunlight. In rare cases, people with a dark complexion may develop blisters and experience swelling and redness of the skin.

Laser Hair Removal - What All Should You Know?

Laser hair removal is a permanent hair removal method that makes use of laser beams to reach the hair follicles before the light from the beam is absorbed by the same. This method is preferred by people who do not want to go in for traditional methods like waxing, tweezing and epilating as these require regular sessions and may not always be convenient. So, here's all you need to know about laser hair removal:

Precision: The laser beam that is set on to the skin gets absorbed by the pigment present in the hair follicles. Each pulse of this laser will take a nano second to treat many follicles at one time. The areas like the upper lip and the bikini line can be treated in a matter of minutes.

Duration: Most people going through this treatment will require at least five to seven sessions so as to attain permanent hair loss

Preparation: The procedure does not merely consist of a process that zaps the unwanted hair. Considerable preparation has to go into it, especially since it a long term treatment method. Avoid waxing or electrolysis at least six weeks before the treatment as this may make the skin tender. Also, since the laser beams affect the hair roots that it can catch, it is best to have them grown out so that the procedure is more effective. Also, you will need to limit your time in the sun before going in for the procedure.

Trimming: Before the procedure actually starts, the hair will require trimming. A few millimetres will be removed, just above the surface of the skin.

Adjustments: Once the trimming is done, the laser equipment will be trained on your skin for a process of adjustment which will involve studying and adjusting as per the colour, thickness and the site of hair removal. Also, the adjustment will be done in terms of the skin colour.

Protection: Before the laser pulses are administered, the expert will need to wear eye protection and cover the site of hair removal with a cooling gel that will protect the skin. Also, a test pulse will be administered on to a small patch first, in order to see if there is any reaction or inflammation.

Aftermath: After the procedure, the application of anti-inflammatory creams and lotions will take place, following which the next session will be scheduled. Usually, the next session will be three to four weeks later.

You must make sure that you going to a well-known clinic where the laser hair removal process is conducted by an expert.

Laser Hair Removal - Top Things You Should Know!

Are you unhappy with the results of shaving, waxing or tweezing for removing the unwanted hair from your body? You should opt for laser hair removal for this purpose, which is considered to be much more effective than the regular methods. Laser hair removal is a very common cosmetic procedure which is undertaken popularly. It involves the exposure of your body hair follicles to beams of highly concentrated laser light. The pigments present in your follicles absorb this light, which results in the destruction of the hair.

Benefits of Laser Hair Removal-

Lasers are quite effective in removing unwanted hair from areas such as the legs, face, arms, underarms and other different body parts. The various benefits of laser hair removal include the following:

  1. Precision: Lasers can target dark, coarse hairs selectively without causing any damage to the surrounding skin.

  2. Speed: Every pulse of laser takes less than a fraction of a second, during which many hairs are treated together. The laser is capable of treating an area which is the size of a quarter within a second. Areas such as the upper lips take less than one minute to be treated, while large areas may require an hour.

  3. Predictability: The results of laser hair removal are highly predictable and most people get to have permanent hair loss after undertaking three to seven treatment sessions.

Procedure-

Your hair, which will get treated is usually trimmed to a few millimeters above your skin surface. The laser device is adjusted according to your hair colour, thickness and location.

You will be made to wear proper eye protection, depending on the type of laser being used. The outer layers of your skin are also protected using a cold gel or a cooling device. This helps the laser to penetrate your skin. After this, a full pulse light is exposed to the area concerned. After completion of the process, you will be given ice packs, cold water and anti-inflammatory creams for easing any discomfort you feel.

For a few days after a laser hair removal session, your treated skin area may look and feel like a sunburn. You need to apply moisturisers for healing. You can wear make-up if the treatment has been undertaken on your skin. The treated hair falls out within the next one month. You should wear sunscreen for preventing colour changes on your treated skin area. In people with a dark complexion, blisters are sometimes likely.\

Laser Hair Removal - How to go about it?

Laser Hair Removal - How to go about it?

Hair removal is one of the constant challenges a woman faces in keeping her skin smooth. Waxing, tweezing and shaving are some of the most common techniques used to remove hair. These are quick and can be done at home but they have temporary results and need to be repeated every few weeks. If this tires you out and you need a more permanent solution, laser therapy may be the perfect solution.

This technique of hair removal uses laser beams to remove unwanted hair. The beam passes through the skin without damaging it and burns the hair follicles. Once the follicles have been damaged, they fall off and do not regrow. While it does not guarantee permanent hair removal, it does slow down the process of regrowth and provides a longer hair-free period. Laser treatment may need to be performed more than once in the case of thick hair growth.

Laser treatment is most effective for light-skinned people with dark hair. It can be used to remove hair from the arms, legs, underarms, bikini line etc. Laser treatment is not recommended for the area around the eyelids. Some of the benefits of laser treatment include:

  1. Lasers are precise and do not harm the surrounding area
  2. Laser treatment is quick, Small areas such as the upper lip can be treated in less than a minute. Larger areas like the back may take up to an hour
  3. Laser treatment is much more effective as compared to other techniques of hair removal. Along with reducing hair growth, it also does not cause undergrowth.

For at least 6 weeks before undergoing laser treatment, you should not use any other forms of hair removal that involves removing the hair from its roots. Before the treatment, your hair will be trimmed and a cooling gel will be applied over the area. You will also be given a protective eye mask. The laser will be customized to the density of your hair, color, location and your skin type. You may feel a zapping sensation when the laser is directed to your skin. After the procedure, an ice pack or an anti-inflammatory lotion may be applied to ease discomfort

Unlike waxing and other means of hair removal, laser treatment cannot be performed by everyone. This must be performed only by a certified dermatologist at a sterile clinic. Your skin may look sunburnt for a day or two after the procedure. This can be relieved with ice packs and moisturizers. Blistering is rare but some people may experience temporary inflammation and redness.

Laser Hair Reduction - Why You Should Prefer It Over Others?

Laser Hair Reduction - Why You Should Prefer It Over Others?

Excessive hair growth can be extremely unpleasant and lead to a host of cosmetic problems. One can experience this growth on the face, hands, legs, underarms, bikini line, or neck, but regardless for the place, we are always on a lookout for options to get rid of them. The glowing, smooth skin that stares at us from hoardings has changed the trends, and with advances in medical technology, this is possible too. It is not only reserved for page 3 celebrities or models and movie stars. While there are various options available for hair removal, most prefer laser, and of course, with very valid reasons.

Read on to know five reasons why laser is preferred over other hair removal techniques.

  1. Painless: Only those who have gone through the ordeal of waxing know how painful it is. Whether it is cold or hot wax, having it applied on the skin and then having the hair pulled out is definitely not-a-very-pleasant experience. While it is dreaded, it also is an option to get rid of unwanted hair. So, when laser is available, it definitely sounds like a painless dream. And what more, when you wake up, you have smooth, glowing skin free of the unwanted hair growth.
  2. More natural compared to other methods: Waxing pulls out the hair that is seen above the skin. While shaving leaves follicles behind but the laser works differently. It gets to the follicular level and destroys these follicles, which are responsible for the hair growth in the first place. This makes it a more natural and better way to get rid of unwanted hair, than just removing what is visible to the naked eye.
  3. Longer-lasting: After a round of waxing, most women start wondering when the small spikes of hair start appearing again. The same happens with shaving too. With laser, this re-growth takes some time and so it is almost a few weeks before the hair starts growing back. Because they act on the follicles, it will take a while for new follicles to form, which can again grow hair. Laser sessions are always repeated, as the intention is to get rid of all follicles so that hair reduction is permanent. In women who do not have too much hair, they can go up to months without having to go for a repeat session.
  4. Cost-effective: Whether it is the hair removal creams or the regular waxing, laser works out more cost-effective than the other techniques in the long run.
  5. Hair treatment in between sessions: With shaving and threading, you have to wait for hair growth before going for the next session. With laser, that is no issue at all. Go ahead with the next session, even when there is no hair growth. For women who are worried about skin changes with the weather, the treatment can start in winter and end by summer, thereby reducing exposure to the sun.

Laser Hair Removal - Get Rid Of Unwanted Hair!

Laser Hair Removal - Get Rid Of Unwanted Hair!

There is no need to walk around embarrassingly with unwanted lip and chin hair, or to endure your sweaty hairy underarms. There is also no need to painfully and repeatedly wax, thread and pluck your hair lifelong. Permanent laser hair reduction provides a painless solution to these annoying problems. Lasers use focused beams of light which specifically target and destroy hair roots without harming the skin or any other tissues.

Hair can easily and permanently be removed from any part of the body, but most females opt for removal of unwanted hair from the lip, chin, underarms, bikini line, arms and legs . Many males like a clean hairless chest and also a clean back and permanent hair removal with lasers provides them with a fast and safe option.

How do lasers work?

A theory formulated by a number of doctors at the famous Harvard Medical School, called Selective Photo-thermolysis (SPTL) is applied for hair reduction. A variety of parameters like hair thickness, depth of hair roots and skin colour, etc. are considered for calculating the appropriate wavelength and pulse duration of light which will specifically match the targeted hair roots. This laser light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles, thus destroying the hair roots. No regrowth of hair is expected once the hair roots are completely gone.

Benefits of laser hair removal

  1. Permanent: Unlike shaving, waxing, plucking or threading where you repeat the process lifelong, laser hair removal requires only about 4-6 monthly sessions and then you are set for life.
  2. Precision: Laser can precisely pinpoint the selective dark and coarse hair without causing any damage to the surrounding tissues. Speed: Within a fraction of a second, the pulsed light of a laser can simultaneously treat many hair follicles. It can treat small areas such as the upper lip within a minute, whereas it can take about 1/2 hour to treat the back or the legs.
  3. Effectiveness: The unwanted hair follicles are removed permanently during sessions at intervals of three to seven weeks.

How to prepare for it?

Lasers should generally be performed under supervision of qualified dermatologists who also have additional specialised qualifications and understanding of laser physics. It is always best to meticulously check the track record of the doctor and the technicians performing these procedures. Six weeks prior to the laser hair reduction procedure, you need to stop waxing, plucking and electrolysis. Avoid a tan six weeks prior to treatment since it is difficult for laser light to pass through pigmented skin.

Expected treatment

Prior to the treatment, the targeted hairs will be trimmed to a few millimeters above the surface of your skin. Your dermatologist will adjust the laser parameters using the onboard computer to exactly match the targeted hair roots. For protecting the outer layers of your skin, a cold gel is applied. Painless pulses of light are then applied to the target areas till the complete desired area is treated. For the chin or underarms, this requires just a couple of minutes. You may feel a bit of warmth when light touches your skin but this is not uncomfortable. Ice packs are applied after the procedure to sooth your skin. The next session is taken up normally after two to four weeks.

Potential side effects

  1. Irritation of skin associated with redness, swelling or discomfort, which subside within a few hours of the treatment.
  2. Temporary pigmentary changes may be observed, such as darkening or lightening.
  3. Underlying hormonal issues can be a cause for unsatisfactory improvement and this should be checked by your gynaecologist or endocrinologist.

Causes of excessive hair growth:

Hormones and hormonal imbalances are one of the chief causes of excessive hair growth. A large number of females in the Indian subcontinent are suffering from polycystic ovarian disease ( PCOD). This condition leads to severe hormonal imbalances which can cause excessive hair growth in females. Excessive hair growth, also called as hirsutism can occur over any area of the body. The beard area, upper lips, chin, under arms are the commonest areas where such hair growth is seen. Such hair growth in females can have a detrimental effect on the well being as well as self confidence. Laser Hair Removal - Know The Procedure!

Unwanted hair is a major issue for many young people. Shaving or waxing the hair is tedious process, and can also be painful at times. Due to its many benefits, laser hair removal has become very popular amongst youngsters. In many cases, after three to eight sessions, permanent hair loss is observed. Recent years have seen an increase in the number of laser hair removal procedures performed.

What is the theory behind laser hair removal?
Laser technology is based on highly concentrated rays. These rays are concentrated on a specific part of your skin from where you wish to remove the hair. The highly concentrated light is directed to particular hair follicles in order to remove them. Although, permanent results or results that last a lifetime are never guaranteed, cases have been observed wherein after a few sessions, complete hair loss is observed.
Many types of laser removal procedures are available, among these, Neodymium YAG, diode, alexandrite, and intense pulsed light sources are well known.

Why should you choose laser hair removal?
Unwanted hair on your face, underarms, legs, arms or any other area can be easily removed using this procedure. Laser hair removal procedures offer you with a healthy and smooth skin free of unwanted hair. The laser used for hair removal target dark and bristly hairs without damaging the surrounding areas. Known for its speed, laser hair procedure has the ability to treat small areas in approximately one minute and less. These small areas include the upper lip region.

How long does it take?
Laser removal method is performed by skilled doctors. The doctors need to decide how many days and sittings will it take to get the procedure done depending upon the growth of hair in that specific area and also how much area of your skin is to be covered. Once the procedure is done, one may need to get it done in few years again depending upon the regrowth of hair on his/her body.

Difficulties of laser hair removal procedure:

  1. Laser hair procedures can at times cause hyper pigmentation of skin or darkening of skin. It can also cause hypo pigmentation, which causes lightening of skin colour at certain regions.
  2. Some people experience itchiness after the procedure has been completed.
  3. A major disadvantage of this treatment is that it can be quite expensive and unaffordable for the common people.
  4. It may leave scars or skin infections if not done by skilled or accomplished doctors.

Laser hair treatment is effective and comparatively more efficient on people who have light skin and dark hair. Generally, laser hair surgeries are done to remove unwanted hair on back, face, chest, neck, bikini area, shoulders, upper lip, chin etc. For successful results, one should get this procedure performed from a skilled doctor. If not done properly, it will leave marks/scars and damage your body.
