Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain.
Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.
Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day.

- your questions lacks his age - surgery depends on age too. That will decided by your surgeon.
- if he is totally bed ridden than yes he requires but validy after surgery is 10 - 15 years only. After that again replacement surgery which not possible as bones get weakened to another surgery.
- kindly start physiotherapy as it will increase his muscle strength of knees and to releive pain tens, ultrasound therapy will be appllied with some hand techniques.

Non working of fingers could be because of multiple reasons. It could be a neurological problem (like a nerve compression near the wrist). Could be due to arthritis or even plain cold weather. If there is no pain then why go for surgery.
Start strengthening exercises for knee.
If they are wearing knee braces according to their deformity then there is less problem in future.

1. Start with Physiotherapy treatment.

3. Wear knee braces.
4. Don't sit on floor.
5. Learn knee exercises.
6. Wear sports shoes.
7. Do hot fermentation twice a day.
8. Apply volini cream before sleeping.

Hello. I suppose your wife is suffering from severe knee osteoarthritis for which she has been adviced knee replacement. Muscle cramps can be due to a number of reasons including dehydration, dyselectrolytemia, calcium or magnesium deficiency, overexertion of muscles during day and other neurological disorders. Keep her hydrated with lot of fluids. See a Rheumatologist who would examine and order tests accordingly.
