It might be due to ankle pain. Our suggestion would be to do hot water fermentation along with Cold (ice) therapy. You shall also keep a pillow under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes. And also you consult on physiotherapy keep in ultrasound.

Disuse and overuse both will affect you. Be some what active not more neither less. Ice massage, crepe bandage will prevent further damage. Whenever you are tend to use knee for day to day activities just ware crepe bandage and just remove it while rest.

Keep small towel roll below your knees and press it hold for 5 sec repeat it 10 times
Heel slides
Ankle up and down moments
Lie on your stomach and perform knee exercises up and down moments

Mr. lybrate-user ji your knee injury is may be ligament pulled or break So if seen swelling at whole knee first do cool pack on whole around knee about 15 min. Then any pain gel aplied and then crape bandage used for immobilized tightly with some pain killers medicine or you can go to any physiotherapy center.

Initially you can try physiotherapy for couple of sittings, if it's getting better there are possibilities of recovery thr physiotherapy alone, if it's not improving, you can plan for surgery.

Yes mri scan is a good option may be other injuries may not require any surgical intervention .thats why treating doctor must not have done anything to it, but if you have pain or discomfort prp therapy (platelet rich plasma )is good non surgical treatment, that will heal your injured portion.

Start doing quadricep and hamstring stretching exercise and apply ice afterwards for 15 minutes atleast for 5 days.
If you feel swelling then also start applying voilini
and if possible try to start 5-10 minutes cycling per day once pain subside.
