You have ligament sprain, and you r symptomatic too, if after 6 month you r symptomatic then there might be little extensive injury than sprain. Get it clinically checked by arthroscopy surgeon, we have good treatment available, there is no need for you to suffer this long.

I am 26 years old and I ended up twisting my knee 2 months back on 25th of March while dancing due to bad landing and since then I have been struggling to find what the injury actually is. I went for an MRI as advised which showed mild effusion in knee bones and no tears in ligaments and fracture in bones after taking rest for 3 weeks I consulted another doctor who asked to repeat the MRI as the knee was not healed and there was lot of fluid surrounding the knee due to which lot of swelling was there. In 2nd MRI it showed partial tear of ACL grade 2 and break of muscle fibres and mild joint effusion. Please suggest me the best option as the fluid has again surrounded after removing once by Doctor. Doing my exercises but hardly any recovery. Knee is quite stiff and pain is experienced only on the bones part so confused if it is bone injury or ACL injury. Moreover 2 doctors have advised for ACL surgery and 1 advised against it as it is more of a bone injury and a small partial tear of ACL. Less amount of pain is experienced with 70℅ movement of knee after exercises .instability of knee m not sure how can I check as still cannot walk properly and using elbow crutch and knee brace to walk. please advise something as it's been 2 months. Do I need to take full bed rest as doctor advised I can walk but it's not helping me in any case. Knee is still swelled up with lots of fluid surrounding but not any clue of pain in the acl area. Only experiencing little pain on knee bones.

Partial ACL tear does not usually require operation /. Since u have on going problem with the knee plus fluid ( effusion ) in the knee ; u may also have meniscal tear .

Knee Pain:
As arthritis is very common that you get generally bilaterally. Ice therapy would definitely help to reduce the inflammation. We also advise you to use knee cap which would help to prevent the knee from damaging further and also we suggest MCR chappals to wear and maintain the quadriceps muscle tone.
You can take Ultrasonic therapy in one of the nearby physiotherapy clinics which would help to heal the damaged cartilages along with shortwave diathermy which would help to impro...more

Dear Akash,

Gread 1 ACL is A slight tear and joint function resumes fairly quickly. Some physical therapy, rest, icing and treatments may be required for healing.
Also gread 1 meniscus tear can also be treated with same as outer edge of meniscus is having blood supply and tends to heal

So my opinion is continue physical therapy along with rest to your knee ( use knee brace ).
Avoid cross leg sitting, stairs climbing and sitting on Indian toilet if you have.

Hello lybrate user,
in arthroscopic surgery to operating surgeon can look directly into your joint using a scopic video camera.
He on table cam also plan for any specific procedures to be done eg: ligamentous repair / reconstruction.
The rehabilitation time after such a surgery is also less, so you can resume your day to day activities ealy on
god bless you.

Your condition needs immediate Orthopaedic intervention.
Yes you should go towards surgery if your Orthopaedic doctor suggest so.
Joint effusion means swelling in the joint which is extended till suprapatellar bursa which is near your knee cap.
Definitive treatment is surgery. Yes it is completely safe and results are good with physiotherapy rehabilitation. You will have to go through prolong physiotherapy rehabilitation program to recover completely.
If it is arthroscopic surger...more
