Check for plaque n calculus deposits on teeth. Go for scaling n polishing. Increase your intake of water. Brush twice daily n use a mouthwash n also clean your tongue. Limit your frequency of food intake to 4-5 times a day. Avoid caffeinated drinks n sticky foods. Don't eat oilly, spicy, onions n garlic at night. Don't drink alcohol at night. Check for any throat infections.

It is not only your hygiene which matters here, oral hygiene of her is more important. If she is not diabetic, she is on lesser risk of infections than you as diabetics especially uncontrolled diabetics are on higher risk of infection. So keep your blood glucose good control. Ensure there is no cut or bruise on your penis which can be portal of entry for infection and last but not the least good oral hygiene of her to be ensured.
