What Does Implantation Bleeding Look Like?

Implantation bleeding looks like a small spot or blood or it can also look like a light spotting which has a consistent flow. A woman is required to put a light pad. The cervical mucus may or may not be present in the blood. The color of the blood in the implantation bleeding would depend on the time duration the blood has taken to come out of the body. Fresh blood coming out would be of the color of dark red or light red. If the blood gets mixed with a vaginal discharge then it may appear to be orange or pink in color. If the blood is older then it may appear to be in brown color. The color of the blood becomes brown because of the process of oxidation.

It is very important to make note of the discharge coming out of the vagina along with the frequency with which it is coming out as the details may be required by the doctor. The diagnosis of implantation bleeding would be made only after other causes of bleeding like polyps are ruled out of contention. However, if the bleeding appears to be heavy then it must be reported to the doctor immediately as it may indicate towards a miscarriage.

Timing of Implementation Bleeding

A woman who feels she is having an implantation bleeding must think about the last time she had sex with her partner. In a general scenario, the implantation takes place between 6 to 12 days after the process of fertilization has taken place. It occurs usually 7 days after ovulation. Thus it puts implantation bleeding approximately near the time of regular menstrual cycle in a woman. It is one of the reasons why women mistakenly consider it as a regular period. A woman is highly unlikely to experience implantation bleeding if it has been more than a month since the last time she got intimate with her partner.

Treatment of Implementation Bleeding

Implantation bleeding is usually not considered dangerous. The doctors generally consider it as a normal sign of pregnancy in a woman. Thus, the doctors usually do not prescribe any treatment as there is no need for it. The bleeding which is occurring due to implantation gets cleared up within a span of a couple of days. Although, if a woman is experiencing heavy bleeding then it may be a sign of either complication in the pregnancy or menstruation. In the case of complication, a doctor must be consulted immediately.

Conclusion

Implantation bleeding is a normal process which can occur in most of the women. It gives the woman an indication that she might be pregnant. The women should not confuse implantation bleeding with regular periods as they both are completely different from one another. There is absolutely no need to be concerned about the process of implantation bleeding as it is a natural process which occurs in most of the women.
