lybrate-user ji, Thanks for the query.
TSH 0.064 mU/L, shows that there is excess of thyroxine dosage. So it is necessary to reduce the dose by at least 12.5 to 25 mcg per day. Then check TSH after 6 weeks to see if TSH is within the expected normal range. Ideally it should be maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L. If you have any doubts please do come back. Thanks.

Diet and exercise are beneficial in general, but exercise and diet will not help you in hypothyroidism- to control or cure it Your thyroid gland may be tiny, but it plays a big role in how well your body functions. That's because the thyroid produces a hormone that regulates your metabolism, the process that converts what you eat and drink to energy. When you have hypothyroidism, or an underactive thyroid, your metabolism slows, causing you to gain weight more easily and feel sluggish and fatigu...more

lybrate-user ji, Thanks for the query.
Please give all the details as written in the reports like T3, T4 & TSH levels, FT3, Free T4 and Scanning report (in detail). Also tell me what other symptoms you have. Particularly your BP, heart rate (pulse), any eye symptoms, hair loss, sweating, wet skin menstruation related issues and anything else. Looking at all those details I will be able to advise. You may need a course of antithyroid treatment. Thanks.

This suggests that production of thyroid hormone by your thyroid gland has further reduced hence pituitary gland is trying to stimulate it by producing more TSH. You need to increase the dose of thuroid hormone supplement in consultation of your doctor.

Neo-Mercazole 5mg Tablet is an anti-thyroid medication. It works by reducing the amount of thyroid hormones produced by the thyroid gland.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Neo-Mercazole 5mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Remedy Required FOR THE UNFORTUNATE THING THAT HAPPENED (PLEASE SEE BELOW) Without any symptom my wife (62 years) went for T3, T4, THS test as a routine check up 1) Although TSH Level is Elevated is 7.87 uIU/ml (Normal Range-0.27-4.90), 2) T3 Level is Normal at 1.40 ng/ml (Normal Range-0.80 -2.0) 3) and T4 Level is Normal at 11.35.ug/dL (Normal Range-5.1-14.1). endocrinologist was consulted. The doctor opined it as Subclinical Hypothyroidism (beginning) and recommended Thyroxine Supplement.(Thyronorm 25 mcg) and advised to see him after 3 months of taking medicine and repeat tests. As a precautionary measure AFTER 28 DAYS ONLY I DID a REPEAT TEST FOR TSH ONLY in the same laboratory AND SURPRISINGLY TSH WAS FOUND TO BE ONLY 0.07 (Normal Range-0.34-5.60) the Normal Range Varied in the Two Cases and the Laboratory explained A) First TSH Test Was done as per cubic E411 Method and B) Second TSH Test was done as per Access 2 Method I again went to the doctor concerned and he advised to STOP THYRONORM I am extremely worried due to the fact that normally ONY AFTER TAKING MEDICINE FOR 28 DAYS ONLY HOW THE TSH FIGURE CAME DOWN SO ABNORMALLY AND MEDICINE WAS STOPPED ,ALTHOUGH PEOPLE SAY THAT ONCE STARTED THYROID MEDICATION WILL CONTINUE WHAT PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES CAN BE TAKEN NOW TO AVOID PROBLEM. Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Usually in subclinical hypothyroidism no treatment is advocated, unlee there are troubling or disturbing symptoms related to hypothyroidism. So in first place there should have been no thyroxine given. Since she was given 25 mcg, the TSH has gone down below normal. So the doctor has asked you to stop it. My subscription is stop treating now, then check TSH after 8 weeks. Then inform, if the level goes above 10 mU/L, then only treatment is needed. Otherwise...more

The best diet for thyroid is selenium, iodine, zinc, Iron, copper, vit-B which can be supplemented through tablets, anti-oxidents, avoid soya beans, gluten. You should avoid anything in the cabbage family, such as kale, spinach, brussels sprouts, broccoli, and cabbage. These foods interfere with thyroid function.

Hello, thanks for the query.
Madam I have seen the query. The tsh value is with in normal limits. Which means the current dosage of levothyroxine (25 mcg) is correct and has to be continued. If you reduce the dosage then tsh value will go up and t4 is likely to down. Another important aspect is that with a bmi (body mass index) is 34.4 kg/sq meter (normal < 23 kg/sq meter), which means you have an excess of almost 26 kg. That needs to be taken care of. Reducing the dosage may increase the we...more

I'm seeing a girl for a prospective matrimonial partner. She is 27 with a height of 5’3” and weight 55 kg. She reported that she has ongoing medication of thyroxine 25 mcg for subclinical thyroid. I want to know how critical is this illness. Whether it has some serious symptoms, and implications and is curable or not. Are there implications for pregnancy complications or possibility of pass it to the child?

she said her hypothyroidism was diagnosed when she had a bit of weight gain and hair fall a couple of years back with tsh levels of 8miu/l. Does tsh levels of 8miu/l indicate subclinical hypothyroidism? Some articles online suggest tsh 8mlu/l as overt hypothyroidism and not subclinical. After that doctor suggested thyroxine 25 mcg. Now her tsh is around 2.5miu/l with the medication.

also, her mother is suffering from hypothyroidism. Is there anything to worry about? Can she live a healthy life with ongoing medication? Are there any dietary restrictions for this or does any other care need to be taken apart from the medication?

Low levels of thyroid hormone can interfere with the release of an egg from your ovary (ovulation), which impairs fertility. In addition, some of the underlying causes of hypothyroidism — such as certain autoimmune or pituitary disorders — may impair fertility.

Hello, thanks for the query.
Madam, I have seen the details. However, you have mentioned only tsh value, nothing about t3 & t4. It is necessary to know those values also. Tsh 4.6 mu/l is not really high. It must be with in the normal range mentioned in your lab report. In uncontrolled hypothyroidism tsh invariably goes uch higher and t4 values also may be low. Please come back with all the values also mention your weight & height. Thanks.

Hello, thanks for the quey.
I have seen the query. I am sure your doctor has told you that pentaprazole needs to be taken at last 30 to 40 minutes before breakfast. So please take in that fashiom. As regards taking levothyroxine, it is better if that tablet is taken early morning say around 6 am, because it is necessary to avoid taking any food or drug for almost an hour. Thanks.
