ADHD - How Can It Be Prevented?

ADHD or Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder refers to those psychological disorders, which significantly alter a child's behavior and considerably affects his or her relationships with others. This condition is seldom preceded by perceptible symptoms and even when they do, they are difficult to decipher. However some of them are:

1. Self-centered
Those children who suffer from the attention deficit hyperactivity syndrome tend to be encapsulated in their own subjectivity. Though this does seem harmless apparently, this tendency may lead them to be insensitive to other's needs and wants.

2. Emotional outbursts
ADHD makes children extremely susceptible to frequent emotional outbursts and makes them erratic.

3. Difficulty in concentration
Children who suffer from ADHD face extreme difficulty in concentrating or focusing on things. Many a times they fail to repeat what was told to them.

There might be several causes which can contribute to the development of this disorder. Some of them are:

1. A drastic change in the child's lives
A sudden or a drastic change like the divorce of parents may severely affect the child and maim him emotionally. This may lead to the development of this disorder.

2. Depression
Though always associated with adults, depression can be and is common among children as well. In such instances, a consequent development of ADHD is highly plausible.

3. Bipolar disorder
Bipolar disorder refers to excessive and incomprehensible mood swings. Many children suffer from it in their early lives, making them susceptible to ADHD.

Notwithstanding the ambiguity and the erratic nature of the disorder, there might be preventive measures which parents might adopt to deter the outbreak of the disorder. Some of them are:

1. Less use of preservatives
Parents must be careful about what their children eat. Those foods which contain a certain amount of preservatives tend to aggravate the disorder thereby causing more harm than good.

2. Consider alternative forms of medications
Another way of dealing with this problem is by exploring other forms of medications and not sticking to one form. In this respect, practicing yoga may be very beneficial.

How Homeopathy Can Help?

Unlike conventional medicine, homeopathy seeks to treat each child as an individual. There is no homeopathic Ritalin. Each child is assessed as the unique person they are. The remedy must reflect everything about the child. A detailed history is fundamental to the correct choice of remedy. The homeopath will ask about the health of the child and the family, the pregnancy and delivery, early development, vaccinations, life events, schooling, favourite foods, drinks to mention just a few points. The more information gathered, the easier it is to find that tailor-made remedy.

The Challenges Of Bringing Up A Child With ADHD!

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD is a chronic disorder usually seen in children and teens. The condition involves hyperactivity, attention deficiency, and impulsiveness.

Bringing up a child with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is very different from traditional child-rearing. Keeping up with usual household activities and making house-rules almost seems impossible when you have a hyperactive child around.

Recognizing the signs of ADHD in your child-
Children/young adults with ADHD encounter the following traits-

  1. Easy distraction
  2. Disoriented/unorganized
  3. Unmindful
  4. Inability to remain seated for longer periods
  5. Restlessness
  6. Talkative
  7. Anger management issues
  8. Lack of concentration

Sometimes, coping up with your child’s behavior can be really frustrating, but there are ways to make life easier.

How to raise a child with ADHD-
There is no denying the fact that children with ADHD are functionally different from others. While they can still learn what is socially acceptable and what is not, ADHD does make them prone to impulsive behavior.
Depending on the severity and symptoms of the disorder in the child, parents should adopt various approaches. First, you will need to modify your own behavior in order to alter and manage your child’s behavior.

  1. Identify which behaviors in your child affects your emotional state the most and apply simple techniques such as taking conscious deep breathing many times a day on your own to calm yourself. If you are unable to calm down with other methods Intent Healing self-healing will help you to stabilize your energies in a neutral, calm or positive state of being.
  2. With a daily practice such as Intent Healing, the Triggers that cause the unproductive and undesirable symptoms of ADHD manifestation in your child will disappear permanently and your child's energies can then be directed into productive and satisfying pursuits and endeavors.
  3. Aggressive outbursts, anger/agitation is common behavioral problems faced by ADHD patients/children. One way of dealing with such issues is for you to take a ‘time-out’and prepare yourself beforehand by applying calming techniques on Yourself first. This will help your energies be in a neutral/calm or positive state of being, which your child will then Feel too and that will help calm the child and prevent and/or mitigate these kinds of outbursts occurring in your child.

Apart from behavioral management, parents are also advised to adopt certain habits such as-

  1. Working out a daily routine for the child, and sticking to it
  2. Organizing and simplifying the child’s life
  3. Regularly assigning small, do-able tasks to the child
  4. Limit your child’s accessibility to electronic gadgets- television, video games, etc. since these encourage impulsive behavior. Instead, encourage them to take part in activities that require attention and concentration. For example, reading books, painting/coloring.

Children, especially those with ADHD, often imitate the behavior of a parent/family member. It is therefore important that as parents, you remain calm, composed and relaxed during tough times. Intent Healing helps you prepare beforehand so you are confident in raising your child with ADHD with ease.

It’s more common in boys than in girls. It’s usually discovered during the early school years, when a child begins to have problems paying attention. How To Prevent ADHD During Pregnancy?

The tendency for the development of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, which is more popularly known as ADHD, during the months of pregnancy is growing with each passing day. The main reason behind this is the increased exposure to the digital devices. This disorder is characterized by some specific characteristics, the most common ones being the inability to concentrate on anything and being hyperactive at all times of the day. People tend to show impulsive actions in all cases.

But the good news is that the researchers have come up with some possible solutions to ADHD during pregnancy with the help of which it can be prevented-

  1. Curb the intake of sugars: One of the main steps that you can take towards preventing the development of ADHD during your pregnancy is going on a low sugar diet. Several types of research have proved that when the mother has a high sugar diet, it directly correlates to the development of ADHD. The reason behind this is quite simple. It is because there is a particular gene in the human body called the IGF2 and this gene is responsible for the development of the brain. But when there is a high amount of sugar in the diet, the IGF2 levels are compromised which ultimately leads to the development of ADHD. So, don’t take too much of processed proteins and stick to a healthy diet. If necessary, approach a dietician who can give you a proper diet chart to follow.
  2. Get the proper probiotics for yourself: Probiotics have a major role in many of the health conditions and one of them is the development of ADHD in pregnancy. Adding the necessary probiotics to a pregnant woman is not only good for her overall health but also enhances the growth and development of the fetus. Not only does the application of the right probiotics prevents the chances of development of ADHD in newborns, but it also reduces the risk of development of conditions like autism, bipolar disorder, mood disorders, and even schizophrenia.
  3. Keep your cell phones away from you: All forms of digital devices create a heavy impact on the fetus leading to ADHD in many cases. Mobile phones are no doubt an important part of your lifestyle but you can keep them away from yourself when they are not needed, especially, keep them away from your pockets.
  4. Drink filtered water: Unfiltered water contains many chemicals and other unhygienic substances. You should refrain from consuming unfiltered water especially in your months of pregnancy.

In the months of pregnancy, when your body is vulnerable to the outside factors that are harmful, you must stay extra vigilant and take all the precautions necessary to ensure that your child does not develop ADHD. Maintain your diet and don’t skip your checkups. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

I need to know where I could go and get a diagnosis done for ADD /ADHD. I have been facing similar or the same symptoms ever since I was in 3rd or 4th grade. I've lost everything at this point, I've been kicked out of the house and I would just like to know if there's something wrong with me, or it's a common problem that many people have and can be resolved with whatever means necessary. I'm a 20 year old man and I don't have a slightest idea where to get help. I've tried calling medical tycoons like Apollo hospitals, Sahyadri hospitals and Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, but got minimal to no help.
