Many people ask this question in a mistaken belief that the milk production in the mother is less. Most often it is not true. If the baby is passing plenty of urine, 5-6 semi formed stools per day and if the baby is gaining weight, the breast milk is sufficient.
However to ensure good supply of milk, the mother must feed the baby often to ensure the" let down reflex" which happens only when the baby suckles.
