Most common reasons for hiccups are-
-Stretching of the stomach after eating or drinking 
-Sudden emotional excitement
-Sudden change of air temperature (eg. Cool shower)
-Very hot/cold food or drink
-A large meal
-Alcohol or excess smoking.
Here are some remedies you can try out to stop the hiccups.

1. Don't Overeat
2. Don't take tea empty stomach. Eat something like a banana (if you are not diabetic) or any seasonal fruit or soaked almonds and a glass of water first thing in the morning (within 10 mins of waking up). No only biscuits or rusk will not do. 3. Take your breakfast every day. Don't skip it.

Sir as per your description of symptoms, it appears that your father may be suffering from intestinal infection.
