Mr. lybrate-user, Diabetes can only be treated effectively with modern medicines. The drugs or various therapies advertised by alternate medical practices have very little role to play in treating diabetes. Unfortunately a lot lofty claims are made, but there are no supportive clinical studies. Sometimes, certain medications are used as a supportive or additional therapies. The real benefit is a big question mark. At best those are just supportive drugs. Thanks.

Mr. lybrate-user, Blood glucose levels mentioned point to being pre-diabetic state. This means one can develop diabetes any time if care is not taken. In such a situation avoiding sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods and pastries, bakery items and sweetened aerated drinks is necessary. One may be liking sweets but if heath has to be maintained then necessary precautions are a must. Right now there is no need for medicines. Only modified lifestyle and exercise are needed. Thanks.

Hi,
It is not advisable to stop blood pressure and diabetes medication . You relative's BP and diabetes is under control due to medicines. If they are stopped BP and blood glucose will raise. Very high blood pressure can lead to stroke. High blood glucose can lead to osmotic symptoms and your relative can fall ill.
There definitely will be other alternatives to the medicines that he is taking . Ask him to consult a good doctor as soon as possible.
Hope this helps you...more
