Long term hiccups casues.
 It’s usually because of damage or aggravation to the nerves connected to the diaphragm. Hiccups that last a while can also be because of central nervous system disorders, or metabolic disorders or kidney disorders.
Or
stress physical, or emotional. Further investigations to rule out the casues r required.

Many conditions can cause hiccups, including eating too fast and swallowing air, chewing gum, smoking, eating or drinking too much.
Intractable hiccups needs medications too.

"As" per your clinical history is concerned hiccups is not a serious problem at all and for it follow few natural remedies like this -

1)Fill a glass with cold water.Bend down at the waist and put your head down.Drink the water from the opposite side of the glass than you would normally.If required, repeat again.

Just adapt a healthy diet and follow some basic rules. Do not lie down immediately after having a meal. Have a cup of warm water before each meal. Have sufficient amount of water (2-3 litres or more in summer ). Have lots of fibre in your daily food (have salads ). Avoid junk food, processed and packaged food/drinks. Start exercising everyday (do learn yoga) which can not only improve your digestion but also benefit your overall well-being.

Avoid spicy food items and not to eat junk food and we also need to avoid peanuts and potatoes in our daily diet and Take tablet Pan-D before breakfast on empty stomach for three months and always to take a gap of a week before starting it again only if necessary

Dear Lybrateuser, - Your problem could be due to acidity due to the medications you are taking or due to GERD (acid reflux in stomach)
- chew your food well, have meals on time, have 4-5 small meals rather than three large meals for proper digestion, avoid colas & other aerated drinks, chewing, gums, fried, spicy & junk food, have dinner 2-3 hrs before bedtime
- have plenty of oral fluids including 7-8 glasses of water for proper digestion

Hi, it seems you are suffering from 1. Gastritis or hepatitis
2. Take an antacid 3-4 tsf 8 hrly
3. Get a blood investigation - liver function test done
4. Avoid fatty, oily meals
