Hiccups may be due to mild gastritis. A diet change and antacids can help .please ask if stool and urine is normal. Depending on symptoms and her age, some tests may be required.

Hi hiccups are cause by irritation of the diaphragm which many known and unknown causes.
I once treated a cancer patient who had surgery near his diaphragm and was having continuous hiccups for a month.

1. Don't take tea empty stomach. Eat something like a banana (if you are not diabetic) or any seasonal fruit or soaked almonds and a glass of water first thing in the morning (within 10 mins of waking up). Dear User, there are many ways to stop hiccups like gulping down water from a glass, breath holding, breathing into a paper bag. There are many causes for hiccups, some of which will cause the hiccups to stop on its own. Make sure an MRI is taken to see any gall bladder pathology.

Dear lybrate-user, hiccups is actually very common in gall bladder disease though it is overlooked. If it persists for more than 48 hrs. In one go, then he will require medication to get it stopped. Hiccups are mainly due to swallowing of air while eating or laughing or such activities. The reaction is the body forcing the air out in the form of hiccups. Usually it lasts for a shorter period of time.
