Piles(Haemorrhoids) - Why Homeopathic Treatment is Best for it?

As our lifestyle and living habits change, we experience a lot of new phenomena and changes in our body systems. One of the biggest changes that we can actually see is the change in the digestive system and the regularity or the irregularity of our stools. When we eat healthy and lead an active lifestyle, we are more likely to have a better digestive system, whereas if we eat more junk or take meals at irregular timings and do not set a system for the body, we put it at great risk of diseases and health issues. One of the most common problems that a lot of people face is constipation.

While constipation in itself may be tackled without much problem, the real issue arises when it turns into something more troublesome such as piles. The issue of piles arises when the veins in the anal region start to swell because of a disturbed blood flow. The swollen regions and the lack of fibre in the stools combine to make the process of passing stools very uncomfortable, painful and it may also lead to the bleeding of the anus.

Treating the issue of piles:
Piles is a health problem that is mainly supported and aggravated because of wrong eating habits, sedentary lifestyle and excessive constipation. One of the most important things that you can do in the course of getting the problem under control is to start eating right. Eating foods with high fibre content and foods that speed up the digestive systems may go a long way in easing out the pain. It may also be important to keep liquid intake under check so that more and more liquid and other healthy drinks are consumed. Choosing to exercise regularly and indulging in workouts that help keep the intestines strong are the best alternatives.

Apart from things that you can do on your own, it may also be important to make sure that you take the right professional medical help. When you have the best help on your side you may be able to make sure that you get the issue treated within a short span of time without having to suffer greatly. However, it is also essential to make sure that the best type of treatment is chosen. In most cases, choosing Homeopathy for treatment may be your best bet. When you opt for homeopathy for piles, you may be able to treat the issue without having to use chemically charged and loaded antibiotics and it may be an easier route to a healthy living.

Why take homeopathic treatment?
The reason why homeopathy is most demanded in the case of piles is because of the fact that conventional medication may lead you to go through surgery for getting relief from the issue. Not only does a surgery increase the burden of increased finances, but also means that it is physically more straining. While homeopathy offers natural and chemical free medicines that treat the root cause of the disease.

Severe symptoms like burnings and bleeding during and after passing stool effectively treat with Homeopathic medicine in very less time.

Piles - Diagnosis and Treatment

Piles or haemorrhoids are swollen veins in the rectum or anus. They can have a lot of possible causes, but the exact reason is still unknown. The one most common reason that researchers cite is the excessive straining during bowel movement and increased pressure on the veins during pregnancy. Some of the common signs of this condition include discomfort, bleeding, and itching. A clot can be witnessed occasionally. There could be swelling around the anus as well.

How is a pile diagnosed?
Doctors often recognize this condition just by doing a physical exam of the rectum. By lubricating the glove and inserting a finger into the rectum, a doctor can gauge any unusual growth around the rectum area. A doctor might also use a sigmoidoscopy or a proctoscopy to witness the lower portion of the colon. Apart from this, a doctor might prescribe a colonoscopy, if he fathoms that there is a possibility of colorectal cancer or a disease related to the digestive system.

Treatment of piles

  1. Medication: In case of mild discomfort, a doctor might prescribe over-the-counter pads, ointments, creams or suppositories. Products such as these contain lidocaine, witch hazel or hydrocortisone that can relieve a person from itching and pain. One should stop consuming over-the-counter medicine, if there is no change in the condition.
  2. Haemorrhoid thrombectomy: If a clot has appeared along with a pile in the rectum, a doctor can remove it by making an incision and draining the clot. This can fetch instant relief. The best time to do this is within 72 hours of clot formation.
  3. Minimally invasive procedures:
    • Rubber band litigation: This form of surgery involves placing of a couple of rubber band at the base of the piles to cut off blood circulation. In due course, the haemorrhoids fall off. Although this form of treatment works for many people, the patient has the risk of bleeding within few days of placing the rubber band.
    • Sclerotherapy: This form of treatment involves injecting a chemical into the haemorrhoid. The chemical shrinks the piles within few days. There is hardly any pain involved with sclerotherapy.
  4. Surgical procedure:
    • Haemorrhoidectomy: This is the process by which a surgeon eradicates the excess tissue that might be causing the piles. The patient is sedated before performing this procedure. Some amount of pain is experienced after the procedure is over. The temporary difficulty of urination can be faced by a patient after this procedure.
    • Stapled hemorrhoidopexy: This surgery is only performed for internal haemorrhoids. The process involves blocking the blood supply. The process of stapling has less pain compared to a Haemorrhoidectomy. On the flip side, studies have shown that this procedure has an increased chance of recurrence of haemorrhoids.

Piles or hemorrhoids refer to the swelling inside or near the bottom of your rectum, which contains enlarged blood vessels. The cause of piles is associated with increased pressure in the blood vessels near your anus.

Here are some top Ayurvedic ways for treating piles:

  1. Avoid a sedentary lifestyle: Sitting in the same posture for long hours without any movement can lead to piles. The lack of physical activity is a common cause of piles in modern day. Hence, it is important for you to work out, stay fit, and active. You must exercise every day strictly for treating and preventing piles.
  2. Avoid food items which are difficult to digest: Piles develop because of an increased pressure on the walls of the rectum. So eat light food, which is easy to digest and eliminate as stool. You should add a lot of fruits and vegetables to your regular diet.
  3. Consume food items which improve your digestion: In case of a weak digestive system, you should add probiotic rich food to your diet. You can also take probiotic supplements which enhance your digestion, soften your stools, and exert less pressure on your rectum walls.
  4. Have a detox drink daily: Prepare a mixture of ginger, fresh mint, lemon juice, and honey and drink it. This improves your digestion and treats piles. Add food items such as mango seeds, onion, radish, wheat, rice, turnip, sesame seeds, bitter gourd, papaya, and other  fiber rich stuff to your diet.
  5. Increase your water intake: Dehydration causes the stool to turn hard, making bowel movements difficult. So drink a lot of water for enabling the stool to pass easily.
  6. Dried figs: Soak dried figs in warm water and consume them in the morning. This is very effective in curing piles.

Prevention
You can prevent piles or hemorrhoids from affecting you by taking some simple steps.

  1. Drinking sufficient water and eating fiber-rich food is the key.
  2. Also drink castor oil mixed with milk, which makes your stool soft, and helps it pass easily. It also reduces the pressure on your rectum walls and muscles.
  3. Massaging your abdomen using marjoram oil and rosemary oil is quite effective.

Piles - Ways Ayurveda Can Help You Treat It!

Piles are Haemorrhoids which become inflamed and are accompanied with bleeding. Haemorrhoids can be defined as masses or clumps of tissues developing in the anal canal. Haemorrhoids comprise of blood vessels, support tissues, muscles and elastic fibers.

Bleeding piles can be treated using several methods or forms of surgery. The ayurvedic form of treatment called agni karma is an effective, natural cure for bleeding piles. On the other hand, a medical procedure known as infrared coagulation therapy can also be executed for the efficient treatment of bleeding piles or haemorrhoids.

Agni karma- an Ayurvedic Remedy for Treating Piles
In Sanskrit, the word 'Agni' refers to 'Fire'. Agni karma is an ayurvedic therapy, which involves the use of agni or fire. It is also called cauterization. Agni karma is popularly called Dahan Karma. Agni karma is used in the treatment of many diseases of different type. It is a good method for the treatment of bleeding piles.

In this process, any ailing surface of the body or a tissue, such as haemorrhoids, is destroyed and burnt by using a heated instrument using electric current and by freezing. An acidic agent for cutting like kshar karma is also used in the process of agni karma for the treatment of bleeding piles.

The different types of agni karma include:

  1. uchchh dagdha /scarce agni karma
  2. Durdaghda/ inappropriate burning surgery
  3. Aati dagdha /powerful or excess cauterization
  4. Samyak dagdha / appropriate agni karma

Infrared Coagulation Therapy-

Infrared coagulation therapy or infrared photocoagulation is a medical process which is used to treat bleeding piles or haemorrhoids, and can only cure internal haemorrhoids.

During the process, a device is utilized, which produces a beam of intense, powerful infrared light. The heat released by the infrared light causes scar tissue and blood supply to the haemorrhoids to be cut off. This results in the death of haemorrhoid or piles, and a scar forms on the anal canal wall. The surrounding veins are held together by the scar tissue which avoids them bulging into the anal canal.

Agni karma, the ayurvedic treatment, is considered to an effective medical treatment procedure of infrared coagulation therapy. This is because:

  • Agni karma is a much more natural method of treatment for bleeding piles, and no unnatural substance like infrared light beam is used.
  • Agni karma provides treatment without failure, and success is guaranteed.

Besides, guggulu kshar sutra therapy is also one of the best therapies - No side effects & no chances of recurrence, no hospital stay, no pain, join duty immediately.

Piles Surgery: What You Need To Know?

Piles Surgery: What You Need To Know?

Do you bleed or feel pain during bowel movements, or the skin around your anus feels sore or itches? Or maybe there's a lump in or around your anus, or you feel as if your bowels haven't emptied completely? Then you may be suffering from piles. Piles or hemorrhoids are essentially swollen veins and muscles in your anal canal or around your anus. And they may stay inside your anus or come outside depending on the severity of the affliction.

Often, piles can be successfully treated with high-fiber diet, proper hygiene, and topical medicines or ointments. But in situations where non-surgical methods don't achieve desired results, surgery becomes the only option. And this may be particularly necessary for those suffering from large painful or bleeding hemorrhoids. The different surgical options are given below:

Hemorrhoidectomy - In this procedure, the surgeon makes incisions around the anus to remove the piles formations. Local or general anesthesia is offered during the operation, and you can usually return home on the same day. After the procedure, the area might require stitches and commonly remains very tender and painful for quite some time.

PPH or Procedure for Prolapse and Hemorrhoids - This method is minimally invasive and makes use of a stapler-like machine for repositioning the hemorrhoids and cutting off their blood supply. So eventually, the piles shrink and die without blood supply and your pain diminishes greatly. With this process, you can expect a faster recovery, less itching and bleeding, and minimal complications, if any.

Laser - An accurate and special laser beam is used in this method, to burn off the hemorrhoids.

Rubber Band Ligation - This procedure can be used for areas with fewer pain receptors. In this, a rubber band is tied around the base of hemorrhoid to stem the blood supply and destroy the affected tissue.

Sclerotherapy - This method involves the injection of a chemical solution around the blood vessel which supplies the hemorrhoid tissues, to shrink and kill them. Though non-invasive methods are preferred by many since they create less pain, hemorrhoidectomy may provide more long-lasting benefits. Here are some other aspects you need to consider regarding piles surgery:

Risks - Infection, bleeding, reaction to anesthesia, trouble with urination, fecal incontinence are some of the risks involved, though the surgery is usually quite safe.

Ways of treating pain - Pain, especially during and after a bowel movement, can be an issue for several days after the surgery. But it can be dealt with by taking prescribed pain medications, stool softeners, and soaking in a warm bath. Recovery can take up to 3 to 6 weeks after the procedure.

Avoiding recurrence - Following a high-fiber diet, maintaining good hygiene, taking lots of fluids, and avoiding straining or constipation can prevent piles from coming back.

Homeopathy Treatment for Piles

Piles or Hemorrhoids is a sort of disease related to ano-rectal veins, in which there is varicosity of veins and if pressure increases on these veins due to any cause (such as constipation), the walls of veins become weakened, which affects the process of dilatation and contraction in the veins and veins remain dilated at last. Blood doesn’t flow further from these dilated veins and remains accumulated, so veins become swelled up. Further it, if walls of veins become much weakened and pressure is more, the veins may rupture and blood oozes out. This whole process is just like the appearance of varicose veins in legs of those persons, who stand for a long time, but in these cases blood doesn’t come out as the veins of legs have more strength.

Causes of piles

The bulging or prolapsed of hemorrhoidal venous plexus occurs when there is rise of pressure around the plexus areas.  The pressure build up around the plexus area occur if the intra abdominal pressure rises. The intra abdominal pressure rises if somebody putted more strain while passing stool like in constipation, in hyperacidity and flatulency condition; in enlarged abdomen like in pregnancy

Scope of homeopathy treatment

Tips To Manage Hemorrhoids (Piles)

Hemorrhoids also called piles, are swollen veins in your anus and lower rectum, similar to varicose veins.come in two varieties. The internal type sprout from within the rectum. External hemorrhoids develop on the anus itself. Either way, stools passing by them can cause pain and bleeding. The common causes are Straining during bowel movements,Sitting for long periods of time on the toilet,Chronic diarrhea or constipation,Obesity,Pregnancy,Anal intercourse,Low-fiber diet etc.

Acupuncture and Moxibustion has found to be effective in relieving the symptoms of Hemorrhoids. You can also try the following steps to get relief as early as possible.

1.Sit in sitz bath-Sit in a bathtub filled with 3 to 4 inches of warm water or Using a basin that fits under the toilet seat, soak the inflamed area in warm water for 10 to 15 minutes, two to three times a day.

2. After the sitz bath dry the area gently.Don’t rub hard.

3.Increase Fiber in your diet & Drink lot of water.-The most important thing is to add fiber to your diet. Increased fiber in your diet can cause stools to soften and makes them easier to pass, reducing the pressure on your hemorrhoids. Boost fiber either by eating high-fiber foods or by taking a fiber supplement or both. Just make sure that you also drink plenty of fluids. High-fiber foods include broccoli, beans, wheat and oat bran, whole grains, and fruits. Fiber can cause bloating or gas, so increase your daily amount slowly. Aim for 25 to 30 grams each day. As you increase your fiber, be sure to drink more water.

4.Lubricate- Mixing a tablespoon of mineral oil with applesauce or yogurt and eating it at breakfast or lunch allows stool to slide by the hemorrhoid more easily. You may help your bowels move even more smoothly by lubricating your anus with a dab of petroleum jelly.Using a cotton swab or just your finger, apply the jelly about 1/2 inch into the rectum

5.Don’t Hold - When you feel the urge, go to the bathroom immediately.Putting off bowel movements can worsen constipation, which then aggravates hemorrhoids.

6.Elevate the feet- Elevating your feet a bit with a step stool as you sit on the toilet changes the position of the rectum in a way that may allow for easier passage of stools.

7.Over-the-counter products are available for hemorrhoids. These include witch hazel infused pads and soothing creams. If these don’t work, ask your doctor about prescription preparations.

8.Exercise Mildly-It’s seen that you can keep your bowels moving with moderate aerobic exercise, such as 30 minutes of brisk walking each day.

9.Don’t scratch the area as it can damage the anal vessels and lead to infections.

10. Don’t lift heavy weights as it can put pressure on the anal region.

11. Use Special Pillows-Sitting on hard surfaces can exacerbate hemorrhoids; a doughnut-shaped cushion can take pressure off painful hemorrhoids

12. If you have a protruding hemorrhoid, try gently pushing it back into the anal canal. Hemorrhoids left hanging are prime candidates to develop into painful clots.

13. Limit your toilet time-Don’t read or chat in mobile while using toilet. This can lead to putting additional strain on your anal region.

14.Supplements like flavonoids and stoneroot can be considered after consulting a naturopathy doctor.

15. Avoid chicken, egg, red meat, junk foods, processed foods and daal in the diet.Include more of Legumes, such as split peas, lentils, black beans, lima beans, and baked beans;  Whole grains, such as barley, bran flakes, oatmeal, and brown rice; Vegetables, such as artichoke, green peas, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts;  Fruits, such as raspberries, pears, apples, and bananas.

Piles : Say No to Surgery!

Piles : Say No to Surgery!

Piles are the tortuous veins which bulge out in the anal canal. There are so many factors responsible for this engorgement of the anal veins. The most common cause is chronic constipation. In such condition patients have to strain for defecation which puts pressure on the veins leading to congestion & engorgement.

When these veins get ruptured by passing hard stools or due to straining it initiates characteristic painless bleeding. Bleeding may be in the form of fresh blood drops or spurts of fresh blood. At this stage bleeding is the only symptom that patients complain of. This is known as 1st degree hemorrhoid. When these congested rectal veins increase in size, the pile mass may protrude out during defecation. After passing stool, the pile mass reduces by itself and sometimes patients have to reduce the pile mass manually. This stage is labeled as 2nd degree piles. When these pile masses further increase in size they may protrude out during walking or sitting etc this is known as third degree piles.

Types of piles-

Piles also known as hemorrhoids are dilated, engorged veins carrying blood in the anal canal. In simpler words, these are dilated blood veins that are located near the areas of anus. Piles are mainly of two types in nature namely

1. Internal hemorrhoids and

2. External hemorrhoids.

The internal ones are more common in occurrence in the human body than the external ones. Most often, these appear around two centimeters above the opening in the anal canal. As the name suggests, the external piles occurs on the outside area of anus. Whereas the internal piles are present inside the anal canal. Here are different stages of internal piles.

  1. In First stage patient complains of painless bleeding during defecation.
  2. In 2nd stage- There is painless bleeding along with mass protruding out per rectum during defecation which gets reduced by itself or manual reduction is necessary.
  3. In 3rd stage; pile mass could not be reduced back or if reduced by force; these come out even on coughing, walking or sitting.
  4. Some classify piles differently as when manual reduction is required; it is the 3rd stage while when pile mass is not reducible; it is the 4th stage of internal piles.

Symptoms of piles-

Following are the symptoms commonly seen in patients of Piles:.

  1. Blood drops with the passage of stool. Blood spurts may also be noticed while passing stools.
  2. Moreover, there are instances when there is unbearable itchiness around the anus specialty in ext. piles.
  3. A soft mass or lump may be noticed coming out through anus during passing stools which is reduced spontaneously & if it is large in size then it may be manually inserted back in the anus.
  4. Acute cases when the pile masses get infected or inflamed there may be symptoms of acute pain

Treatment of piles without surgery!!!

Yes; It is possible to treat piles without having to undergo the knife of doctor. Ayurveda is well known for treatment of piles without surgery.

A. In the first stage of piles, Kshar Karma therapy (application some kshar or medicine on the pile mass that cause shrinking of the mass) is performed which leads to arrest of the bleeding & regression of the pile mass. No surgery is required.

B. In the second & third stage of piles, the pile mass is ligated by the Ksharsutra as an opd procedure. After ligation pile mass shed off in some days. Usually hospitalization or bed rest is not required & patients can go home after the treatment. It is not advisable to ignore the problem as it will only aggravate with time. Earlier is always better to treat pile. Even at first stage; it is very important to see the doctor because the blood loss during passing stools may lead to anemia. .

Home remedies for Piles

1. Piles are the resultant of putting too much strain while defecation or sitting too long for defecation. So these should be avoided.

2. Avoid fast foods, spicy and too much oily foods.

3. Increase consumption of fibrous foods like green leafy vegetables, fruits and salads;

4. Increase intake of fluids and butter milk etc.

5. You should exercise regularly.

6. If the pile mass protrude out during defecation these should be reduced and it is better to keep them inside.

Laser For Treating Piles And Fistula - A New Dimension!

Proctology refers to the study of the structure and diseases of the anus, rectum, and sigmoid colon. Laser surgery in proctology field enables excellent cutting, limiting thermal damage to the surrounding tissues reducing the post-operative pains. Piles are also called hemorrhoids. They are swellings in blood vessels found in or around the rectum and anus. Piles manifest symptoms like bleeding after passing stool, itchy bottom, hemorrhoid mass hangs out of the anus that pushes back in after passing of stool (prolapse), a mucus discharge, soreness, redness and swelling around the anus. Proctology conditions like piles might not be life-threatening, but they’re associated with poor quality of life and embarrassment.

Laser Treatment for Piles
Piles are classified into grades based on their severity.

  • Grade one is the initial stage where a person has bleeding or itching but no prolapse. At this stage conservative measures are recommended.
  • In grade two, the mass of hemorrhoids begins prolapse during defecation but goes back in, on completion of the act.
  • In Grade three, the prolapsed haemorrhoidal mass does not go back on its own, and manually pushed back. LHP is recommended for early stages of Grade 3; however, stapler surgery is recommended for advanced stages.

The LHP process
A laser fiber is passed through the anal opening and laser energy is applied to the haemorrhoidal mass. The controlled emission of laser energy reaches the submucosa zone, causing the haemorrhoidal mass to shrink. Fibrosis reconstruction generates new connective tissue, ensuring the mucosa adheres to the underlying tissue preventing the recurrence of prolapse.

Benefits

  • Reduced pain, faster healing, higher outcome, and shorter procedures.
  • Optimal treatment and outcomes.
  • Presets enabling ease of use improved surgical control and accurate dosage.
  • Requires no incisions and suturing.
  • The procedure leaves no foreign material in the body.
