Bleeding Piles - How Agni Karma Therapy Can Help With It?

Piles are Haemorrhoids which become inflamed and are accompanied with bleeding. Haemorrhoids can be defined as masses or clumps of tissues developing in the anal canal. Haemorrhoids comprise of blood vessels, support tissues, muscles and elastic fibers.

Bleeding piles can be treated using several methods or forms of surgery. The ayurvedic form of treatment called agni karma is an effective, natural cure for bleeding piles. On the other hand, a medical procedure known as infrared coagulation therapy can also be executed for the efficient treatment of bleeding piles or haemorrhoids.

Agni karma- an Ayurvedic Remedy for Treating Piles
In Sanskrit, the word 'Agni' refers to 'Fire'. Agni karma is an ayurvedic therapy, which involves the use of agni or fire. It is also called cauterization. Agni karma is popularly called Dahan Karma. Agni karma is used in the treatment of many diseases of different type. It is a good method for the treatment of bleeding piles.

In this process, any ailing surface of the body or a tissue, such as haemorrhoids, is destroyed and burnt by using a heated instrument using electric current and by freezing. An acidic agent for cutting like kshar karma is also used in the process of agni karma for the treatment of bleeding piles.

The different types of agni karma include:

  1. uchchh dagdha /scarce agni karma
  2. Durdaghda/ inappropriate burning surgery
  3. Aati dagdha /powerful or excess cauterization
  4. Samyak dagdha / appropriate agni karma

Infrared Coagulation Therapy-

Infrared coagulation therapy or infrared photocoagulation is a medical process which is used to treat bleeding piles or haemorrhoids, and can only cure internal haemorrhoids.

During the process, a device is utilized, which produces a beam of intense, powerful infrared light. The heat released by the infrared light causes scar tissue and blood supply to the haemorrhoids to be cut off. This results in the death of haemorrhoid or piles, and a scar forms on the anal canal wall. The surrounding veins are held together by the scar tissue which avoids them bulging into the anal canal.

Agni karma, the ayurvedic treatment, is considered to an effective medical treatment procedure of infrared coagulation therapy. This is because:

  • Agni karma is a much more natural method of treatment for bleeding piles, and no unnatural substance like infrared light beam is used.
  • Agni karma provides treatment without failure, and success is guaranteed.

Besides, guggulu kshar sutra therapy is also one of the best therapies - No side effects & no chances of recurrence, no hospital stay, no pain, join duty immediately.  In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Internal Haemorrhoids - Surgical Option For Treating It!

Internal Haemorrhoids - Surgical Option For Treating It!

Your body starts sending signals well before a condition can assume a critical state, and hence it becomes essential to listen to your body to avoid getting into complications. Internal haemorrhoids, less painful than external haemorrhoids, can worsen over time if left untreated and can result in bleeding.

The term haemorrhoids, commonly known as piles, refer to inflamed and swollen veins in the anus and the rectum that cause bleeding and discomfort, especially during sitting and bowel movements. When the blood veins inside of the rectum become engorged and swollen, it is referred to as internal haemorrhoid.

When internal haemorrhoids take moderate to severe form, they require surgery. Here is a closer look at the surgical options available for treating internal haemorrhoids.

  1. Closed hemorrhoidectomy: Closed hemorrhoidectomy is the most common surgical procedure used for treating internal haemorrhoids. In this case, excision of the haemorrhoid bundles is performed by using sharp instruments like electrocautery or scalpel or scissors, followed by complete closure of the wound with absorbable suture. Closed hemorrhoidectomy has a success rate of around 95% for treating internal haemorrhoids completely.
  2. Open Hemorrhoidectomy: In this surgical procedure, hemorrhoidal tissues are excised in the same way as that of the closed hemorrhoidectomy. The only difference here is that the incision is not closed but left open. Open hemorrhoidectomy is usually performed at such locations where the closing of the wound is difficult or may have a high risk of postoperative infections. Depending on the requirement of the patient's internal haemorrhoid conditions, a combination of both closed and open hemorrhoidectomy may be carried out.
  3. Stapled Hemorrhoidectomy: Stapled hemorrhoidectomy, also known as hemorrhoidopexy, is another surgical procedure where a stapling device of circular shape is used for excising a circumferential ring portion of the excess tissues of internal haemorrhoid. This procedure helps to lift the haemorrhoids back in their normal position inside the anal canal. This surgical technique is comparatively a new addition to the surgical treatment options for internal haemorrhoid treatment. Stapled haemorrhoidectomy is most widely accepted technique of haemorrhoidectomy. Advantages of this technique are:
    • There is a minimal pain after surgery.
    • There is minimal or no bleeding after surgery.
    • Patients can resume their routine activities after 2-3 days.
    • There is no external wound or scar after this surgery.
  4. Rubber Band Ligation: Rubber band ligation surgery doesn’t require anaesthesia and can be performed for treating internal haemorrhoids. Here, a rubber band is used around the base area of haemorrhoid that is there inside the rectum, which helps in cutting off the blood circulation making haemorrhoid wither away within weeks. However, banding isn’t suggested for those who take blood thinners as it may increase bleeding complications.
  5. Lateral Internal Sphincterotomy: In lateral internal sphincterotomy, the muscles of the inner anal sphincter are opened. This surgical procedure is for those patients with internal haemorrhoids who have high resting pressure on the sphincters. Though rarely used, this surgical method doesn't cause much pain after the operation.

A gastroenterology surgeon can determine the suitable surgery option only after a thorough analysis of one's physical health, and the condition and complications of the internal haemorrhoids. While sometimes, laparoscopic surgeries do help, for some a more traditional open kind of internal haemorrhoid surgery may become necessary.

Piles - Why Choose Homeopathy For Treating It?

Piles or Haemorrhoids is a disease of the anal canal. The veins in this region get affected. They swell as blood stagnates inside them. This causes discomfort while passing stool. The most obvious symptoms of piles are bleeding and pain at the time of excretion or passing of the stool. For most of the patients with piles, sitting or standing becomes a tedious task.

What causes piles?
The primary reason behind the occurrence of piles is a patient’s sedentary lifestyle. Most of it also depends on upon his or her diet intake. Many of us consume a lot of carbohydrates, fats and proteins in our regular meals. But, we forget or are simply reluctant to take up physical exercises. This, in turn, leads to increase in body weight and hampers the activity of our digestive system. As a result, patients develop diseases like piles.

Diet plays a vital role in preventing piles. If we don’t add an adequate amount of fibre or roughage to our diet, there is a potential threat of developing piles. Fibres help with the convenient evacuation of the stool. In fact, fibres form the bulk of the stool. Besides, insufficient intake of water may also cause this disease.

Natural ways to tackle Piles
Piles can be managed or tackled by bringing in some changes in our lifestyle. Some of the ways of managing piles have been listed below:

  1. Add more roughage and fruits to your diet
  2. Exercise regularly

  4. Sit in a tub of hot water to get relief from the pain
  5. Drink plenty of water

Homoeopathic treatment for Piles

It doesn’t include any painful surgery for removal of piles. Moreover, homoeopathy is budget-friendly. Here are some effective homoeopathic medicines, useful in curing piles:

  1. Hamamelis: This medicine is useful in stopping the bleeding in piles. It can cure any venous congestion and bleeding. It can also be taken when the patient develops a feeling of soreness.
  2. Ratanhia: It gives relief from the pain due to piles. A patient suffering from piles feels immense pain and a burning sensation at the time of stool evacuation and even for hours after that.

Piles - Is Constipation The Real Reason?

Piles - Is Constipation The Real Reason?

There are many people worldwide who suffer from a condition known as Piles or Haemorrhoids. In individuals with piles, the veins in the anal canal become inflamed and swollen causing pain and extreme discomfort (anal bleeding after defecation) during the bowel movement. There may be anal itching along with a mucous discharge from the anus. While in some people piles or hemorrhoids may appear within the inner part of the anal canal (Internal Piles), in others they may be present on the outer side of the rectum (External Piles).

Is constipation the main cause?
One of the underlying factors that trigger piles is chronic constipation. In constipation, the stool becomes hard, dry, and large. There is straining during the bowel movement. All these exert immense pressure on the rectum resulting in the blood vessels present around the rectum and the anus to undergo swelling and inflammation giving rise to hemorrhoids or piles.

In addition to constipation, the other factors that may cause piles include

  1. Severe diarrhea
  2. Pregnancy
  3. Lack of physical activity or a sedentary lifestyle
  4. Obesity can also act as a trigger
  5. In some people, piles may be a genetic predisposition

Ayurveda for piles
It is a well-known fact that constipation acts as a catalyst resulting in piles. Ayurveda works towards not only treating piles but also eliminating the underlying factors. As per Ayurveda, constipation occurs when there is a dip in the digestive fire. There is a disruption of the balance between the doshas (Vata, Kapha, and Pitta). As a result, toxins (Ama) build up in the body (especially in the rectum resulting in constipation). The disruption of the dosha balance can be brought about by a plethora of factors including lack of physical activity, unhealthy diet, and even obesity. Thus, the first step towards treating piles involves the elimination of the Ama from the body so that the balance between the three doshas can be restored.

  • Jimikand and Haritaki are wonder herbs that play a pivotal role in dealing with constipation and piles by improving the overall functioning of the digestive system.
  • The diet also undergoes healthy modifications. Consume fruits and vegetables such as mangoes, dried figs, papaya, bitter gourd, radish, onion, ginger, green leafy vegetables, which act as a tonic in the case of piles and constipation. Whole grains, legumes, brown rice are healthy options. However, processed and packaged foods, coffee, tea, aerated drinks, and beverages, colocasia, potato, should be avoided.
  • Drink lots of water. A well-hydrated body will be more effective in dealing with constipation and also eliminate the toxins from the body.
  • Physical activities, yoga, and exercise can go a long way to improve the condition of piles as well as constipation.
  • Avoid having cold or stale foods.
  • Oil massage using a specially prepared herbal oil can play a significant role in the detoxification of the body.
  • Panchakarma (especially Basti where the toxins accumulated in the lower colon are eliminated using an Ayurvedic enema) can also help in the detoxification of the body thereby improving the condition of constipation and piles.

Piles or haemorrhoids cause severe bleeding (coupled with severe pain and blood in the stool) in the anal region because of sudden increased pressure in the concerned area due to an abnormal enlargement of the rectal veins.

Treatment Of Piles -

Piles or haemorrhoids cause severe bleeding in the anal region due to an abnormal enlargement of the rectal veins. The bleeding occurs as a result of a sudden increase in pressure in the rectal area. The haemorrhoids which tend to grow in the exterior part of the anus tends to be severe painful as compared to the internal haemorrhoids (which are invisible and grows in the interior portion of the rectal area).

The major causes of haemorrhoids are genetic factors, pelvic tumours, excessive alcohol consumption, obesity, lack of regular physical exercise, undiagnosed and chronic gastric disorders like dysentery, diarrhoea or constipation and a significant increase in the weight of the uterus during pregnancy.

The sign of piles might include intense pain and irritation in the rectal area along with the presence of blood in the faeces and abnormal swelling of the affected area. If taken in a prescribed dosage, homeopathy can be very effective in curing piles. The most beneficial homeopathic preparations for piles are:

Piles - Minimally Invasive Procedures That Can Help Treat It!

Piles or haemorrhoids are swollen veins in the rectum or anus. They can have a lot of possible causes, but the exact reason is still unknown. The one most common reason that researchers cite is the excessive straining during bowel movement and increased pressure on the veins during pregnancy. Some of the common signs of this condition include discomfort, bleeding, and itching. A clot can be witnessed occasionally. There could be swelling around the anus as well.

How is a pile diagnosed?
Doctors often recognize this condition just by doing a physical exam of the rectum. By lubricating the glove and inserting a finger into the rectum, a doctor can gauge any unusual growth around the rectum area. A doctor might also use a sigmoidoscopy or a proctoscopy to witness the lower portion of the colon. Apart from352908 this, a doctor might prescribe a colonoscopy, if he fathoms that there is a possibility of colorectal cancer or a disease related to the digestive system.

Treatment of piles

  1. Medication: In case of mild discomfort, a doctor might prescribe over-the-counter pads, ointments, creams or suppositories. Products such as these contain lidocaine, witch hazel or hydrocortisone that can relieve a person from itching and pain. One should stop consuming over-the-counter medicine, if there is no change in the condition.
  2. Haemorrhoid thrombectomy: If a clot has appeared along with a pile in the rectum, a doctor can remove it by making an incision and draining the clot. This can fetch instant relief. The best time to do this is within 72 hours of clot formation.
  3. Minimally invasive procedures:
    • Rubber band litigation: This form of surgery involves placing of a couple of rubber band at the base of the piles to cut off blood circulation. In due course, the haemorrhoids fall off. Although this form of treatment works for many people, the patient has the risk of bleeding within few days of placing the rubber band.
    • Sclerotherapy: This form of treatment involves injecting a chemical into the haemorrhoid. The chemical shrinks the piles within few days. There is hardly any pain involved with sclerotherapy.
  4. Surgical procedure:
    • Haemorrhoidectomy: This is the process by which a surgeon eradicates the excess tissue that might be causing the piles. The patient is sedated before performing this procedure. Some amount of pain is experienced after the procedure is over. The temporary difficulty of urination can be faced by a patient after this procedure.
    • Stapled hemorrhoidopexy: This surgery is only performed for internal haemorrhoids. The process involves blocking the blood supply. The process of stapling has less pain compared to a Haemorrhoidectomy. On the flip side, studies have shown that this procedure has an increased chance of recurrence of haemorrhoids.
