Usually you should get relief in 10 days. steam inhalation two times a day and drinking lot of water will speed up the recovery process. I would advise you to wait for one month at least before going for flu shot. In Indian scenario, flu shot is not advisable in a 49 year old healthy person. I would advise good food and exercise for disease prevention.
