My son did a tibia operation in 2018 due to a motor vehicle accident, he had 2 pins in the chin which were both removed, now in 2023 the lower leg around the calf and chin pain a lot during night. He uses sprays and over the counter tablets. Is this normal with that fracture?

It depends on how it is broken. It doesn't seem emergency how you presented. Normal fractures heal by themselves. Plaster keeps them in position and immobile. Some herbs should be taken for fast and strong healing.

There is swelling in the whole foot 10 days after removing cast for a 5th mt spiral fracture. Am doing hot fomentation twice a day but still unable to wear my shoes due to the swelling. Can some medicines help? Is cold compress suggested? Thanks.

Never do hot formentation for swelling keep your foot submerged in ice cold water or apply ice pack on the foot 3-4 times in a day and then raise your legs on 3-4 pillows and keep it whole night all swelling will get reduced the next day.

The goal of fracture treatment is to allow the bone to heal and fuse back together. Often, this can be accomplished by immobilizing the bone for several months with the help of a cast and splint. The more severe the fracture is, the more likely it is that surgery will be recommended.
