Mustard Oil Versus Refined Oil

Today with the rising instances of cardiovascular diseases, people have become really conscious about their heart's health and want to opt for items that promote good health. Oil is one of the most important components in food that is almost unavoidable so it is recommended to educate yourself about the different kinds available. Mustard oil is an age old oil that is used to cook almost all types of foods in India and then there is refined oil which is processed to meet the customers' needs. It becomes difficult to choose an oil that is actually beneficial to your health.

Health benefits

Mustard oil is derived from mustard seeds which is a little pungent and dark yellow in color. It is widely used as cooking oil in India. It is known to contain healthy fats that do not accumulate in the blood vessels and is also a source of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and decreases the cholesterol level. Mustard oil has Glucosinolate, an antimicrobial ingredient that provides protection from infections.

Refined oils are natural oils which have been processed to remove impurities, odor, and contaminants. They are chemically treated to make the oil look clearer and cater to the customers' preference. Not many health benefits of refined oil are known apart from the fact that it is rigorously treated to meet the needs of the customers such as refined oils for heart patients. Filtered oil, on the other hand, is made by only eliminating impurities without being chemically processed which is better than refined oil.

Harmful effects

Though generally mustard oil is regarded as healthy, researchers have found its downside too. Mustard oil has considerable amounts of erucic acid and heavy consumption may cause diarrhea or anemiaIt is also known to cause skin eruptions and Rhinitis. It is recommended to consume moderate amounts of mustard oil so that you don't expose yourself to such risks.

Refined oils have much more harmful effects on your health than mustard oil. To begin with, the very fact that it is chemically treated makes it quite harmful. The process of refining involves nickel which has detrimental effects on the skin, respiratory system and liver. Preservatives and sodium hydroxide are also added during the processing which is harmful to the digestive system.

It is always better to go natural; so, mustard oil wins the debate but not without some glitches. It is advisable to choose your oil wisely and also monitor your consumption.

Penis Discoloration - Normal Variations Versus Potential Problems

Penis Discoloration - Normal Variations Versus Potential Problems

As most men are intimately aware of their penis and alert to any changes, variations in its appearance such as penis discoloration can be a cause for intense worry. Thankfully, in most cases, minor alterations in penis color are considered totally benign. In fact, trying to amend penis color changes like this could do a lot more harm than good. But there are a few situations in which changing color could indicate a more serious condition that merits further attention to penis health, including a trip to the doctor.

The Role of Blood in Penis Color

A quick surge of blood into penile tissues can help a member move from soft to hard, but the blood does more than just make things a bit more firm. This fluid is a thick, deep, red color due to all of the nutrients and oxygen it contains. Since the penis is filled with blood vessels both large and small, when a man is aroused and activity is in progress, the penis can become much, much darker.

There are times, however, when a man may notice that his penis doesn't darken as it once did, even when he's ready for action. It's possible that an underlying heart condition is to blame, as decreased cardiovascular function may reduce blood flow to the area. Men with underlying heart problems should be sure to mention this issue to their health care provider, just to ensure that the changes they're seeing aren't part of a larger problem that should be addressed.

Speckles and Splotches

Color changes due to blood flow tend to be uniform, affecting large areas of a man's penis. The entire head of the penis may turn darker, for example, while the shaft of the penis remains the same. Variations like this tend to be healthy and blood-flow related, but there are some types of penis discoloration that are not so uniform, and they don't come and go with arousal.

Speckles of deep purple, splotches of light pink or changes in penis color that are also mirrored on other parts of the body could be signs of more significant problems, such as:

This is a long list, but men who are experiencing penis spots or other color changes should not try to self-diagnose the problem. For guys who have questions or concerns about the appearance of their penis skin, a trip to the doctor can help to clear up the issue.

Men who experience bruising following an injury or who have sores that are accompanied by fever, body aches, or other flu-like symptoms should seek immediate medical attention. Sores that weep, bleed or do not heal on their own should be evaluated by a dermatologist.

DIY Disasters

When faced with penis spots or discoloration, some men are tempted to break out bleaching agents or self-tanning oils. Many of these products are simply not designed for use on intimate skin, and some products can even cause nasty burns that take a long, painful time to heal. If the color variation isn't due to a medical problem, learning to appreciate the natural variation may be the best bet.

Men with all skin types and colors can keep the penis looking attractive by applying a penis health formula (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil). A quality penis cream containing natural emollients and vitamins can help soften the skin and remove deadened skin cells that can dull the appearance of the penis. Daily application after a shower, when the skin is most responsive, can leave the skin feeling soft, smooth and supple, as well as responsive to sexual stimulation.

Healthy Gut OR Host for Parasite

Intestinal parasites-Tape warm, ring warm, thread worm, Whip worm........You would have heard about them.

We all are living in an environment full of toxins and Parasites. Toxins makes our immunity weak, let the parasite get entered into our blood and get settled in our gut. And now whatever good we are having is not nourishing us, but firstly to our tiny unwanted guest.

The signs of a parasite can often appear unrelated and unexplained. It is typically seen, parasites causes more constipation in patients than diarrhoea, but some parasites are capable of changing the fluid balance in your gut and causes diarrhoea. Trouble sleeping, skin irritations, mood changes, and muscle pain can all be caused by the toxins that parasites release into the bloodstream. These toxins often cause anxiety, which can manifest itself in different ways. For instance, waking up in the middle of the night or grinding your teeth in your sleep are signs that your body is experiencing anxiety while you rest. When these toxins interact with your neurotransmitters or blood cells, they can cause mood swings or skin irritation, Rashes or Itchiness.

Few others signs are:

You can get infected by:

- Walking barefoot in the garden, playground or any infected soil; for example, hookworm larvae burrow through the skin of bare feet.

- Ingesting worm eggs through eating fruits, vegetables, grains, fish and meat contaminated with roundworm or whip worm.

- Washing fruits and vegetables with contaminated water.

- Transfer of the parasitic worms from pets to owner.

- Coming in contact with the soil that has been contaminated with human faeces from an infected person.

- Not washing hands with soap and water after defecating. Open air defecation also increases the risk of worm infestation.

Worm infestation affects normal growth in children and can cause malnutrition in adults too. Thus, it is recommended to de-worm babies in every six months after they turn one. De-worming medication kills adult worms but not the eggs + new infection form above mentioned sources makes repetition of the dose in every six months vital, even in adults too.

In Ayurveda, there are natural remedies for de- worming. That are safe and effective:

  • Ajwain (carom seeds): Ajwain seeds taken with jaggery dissolved in cold water early in the morning expels worms during defecation.
  • Castor Oil : Take 1 spoon Castor oil and eat 10 gm Sugar on an empty stomach. One of the best remedy for all intestinal parasite. (It can raise the frequency of defecation)
  • Bael (Bengal quince, wood apple): The fruit kills the worm within the body which is then expelled with stools.
  • Palasha (flame of the forest): Effective in treating roundworms. Take the seeds with buttermilk twice daily.
  • Tulsi (sweet basil): Seeds of Tulsi in water or even chewing the leaves on an empty stomach is an effective remedy for all parasitic worms, including tapeworm.

So protect yourself and your loved ones from intestinal parasites. Keep your gut Happy and yourself Healthy.

Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) - The Many Benefits Of It!

Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) is a traditional and well established surgical procedure for treating diseases in the coronary artery. The process is carried out by using blood vessels alternately (vein or artery). Initially, CABG was performed by using the left internal mammary artery and saphenous vein. It was observed that the chance of occlusion in the vein grafts was much higher than the arterial grafts. In the last decade, total arterial grafting, which uses all the arterial conduits, is being practiced as CABG for better results.

Types of Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

  1. Traditional Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting: In this type of CABG, the surgeon will initially open up the chest bone to gain access to the heart. The heart is stopped using medications and the body is connected to a heart-lung bypass machine to circulate oxygen and blood throughout the body.
  2. Minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass grafting: In this surgery, small incisions are made on the left portion of the chest to gain access to the heart. This surgery is used to bypass the blood vessels present in the front portion of the heart.
  3. Off-pump Coronary artery bypass grafting: In this procedure, the chest bone is opened up to access the heart. Here, however, the heart is not stopped during the surgery.

Patients, who have been suffering since a long time and have been operated on the vein grafts, have a chance of re-developing certain artery diseases such as a heart attack. To counter this possibility, surgeons have started using the method of Total Artery CABG. In this procedure, the left and right internal mammary arteries are used from the chest and the radial artery, from the fore arm for the surgery.

The main advantages of this procedure are:

  1. The survival rate is higher in total artery CABG as compared to the traditional CABG.
  2. It comes with long term benefits
  3. The procedure is safe as well as feasible

Laparoscopic Versus Robotic Surgery!

Laparoscopic Versus Robotic Surgery!

No one likes to have large incisions on their body for any kind of surgery, as they would leave scars. Apart from scars, there is a lot of pain involved in open surgeries and you need to stay for a really long time in the hospital when you opt for open surgeries. So, nowadays, both patients and doctors are opting for the minimally invasive surgeries over the open surgeries.

You have two options when you are opting for minimally invasive surgeries and they are:

  1. Laparoscopic
  2. Robotic

It sometimes gets really tough for patients to make a decision on which is the right surgery from these two options. Not all surgeries can be done using these technologies. So, in that case, the only option will be chosen and in other cases, your doctor will help you choose the best based on other factors such as time, cost and post-surgery care.

What is Laparoscopic Surgery?
When compared to the normal open surgery, your doctor makes only small incisions in the area of surgery such as your belly button. Usually, three incisions are made to insert the tubes that hold the equipment and the camera. The camera will show images on the screen and with the help of these images, the doctor can perform the surgery. The scars are less noticeable and the pain is also very less.

What is Robotic Surgery?
Robotic surgery is very similar to laparoscopic surgery. Small incisions are made to insert the camera and equipment inside the abdominal area and it is inflated using carbon dioxide gas. But the main difference is that the doctor does not sit close to the patient to operate the equipment manually with their hands. The doctor does not hold any equipment. Only a nurse stands close to the patient, while the doctor sits in front of his computer and operates the equipment with the help of hand controls available on the computer. That means, it instructs the robot on what to do. The images in robotic surgery are much more magnified than the laparoscopic images and they are of high clarity. The image is three-dimensional ensuring image clarity for the doctor.

Advantages of Robotic Surgery over Laparoscopic surgery:

  1. Complete three-dimensional view of images, allows the doctor to perform the surgery with great precision.
  2. A very short period of recovery.
  3. In robotic surgery, the doctor has a better control over the than laparoscopic surgery.
  4. The movement required to perform the surgery can also be controlled very well. Smaller movements are possible with robotic control than using the manual controls.
