Herbs and other methods along with lifestyle changes will then help you to get your vitality back.

Kidney Stones - The Ayurvedic Ways It Can Be Treated!

Kidney stones’ is a disorder of the urinary tract wherein stones are formed in the kidney. This happens when solid particles in the urine become concentrated; the solid particles mostly being acid and mineral salts. This disorder can affect any part of the urinary tract: from the bladder to the kidneys. The treatment for this disorder is designed depending on the severity of your symptoms.

Symptoms-
Once affected by this disorder, pain in the lower abdominal region will be common. The pain may get aggravated when you urinate. You may also exhibit symptoms of vomiting, nausea and a constant urge to urinate. Hematuria (presence of blood in the urine) is another symptom common to this disorder.

The causes of kidney stones range from factors such as an imbalanced diet, sedentary lifestyle and spicy food. Less water consumption is also a major cause of kidney stones. These factors cause problems in the various doshas in the human body, leading to diseases. It leads to toxin formation in the body called ama. These toxins trickle down to the urinary tract, causing crystals to form, thus leading to kidney stones.

Ayurveda is a holistic system of medicine that focuses on improving your overall well-being, rather than just focusing on the symptoms of the disease. Being a complete natural based method, it has no side effects. Ayurvedic remedies for kidney stones emphasize on improving your lifestyle and diet to keep the energy balance in your body.

Ayurvedic remedies consist of using diuretic herbs to dissolve the stones. Once the stones are dissolved, it is then recommended to use various cleansing techniques such as Panchakarma, which helps in strengthening the body. It is recommended to drink at least 2 to 3 liters of water daily and urinate whenever the urge occurs.

Some of the ayurvedic remedies that are useful for the treatment kidney stones are listed below.

  1. Gokshura Kada: 15 ml of this liquid, mixed with equal amount of water, taken three times a day is helpful for urination and in relieving the burning urination sensations which are common complaints of people with kidney stones. Another ayurvedic medicine, chander prabha vati is useful for the treatment of the burning sensation while urination.
  2. Ayurvedic medications such as ber patthar bhasma or patherina (as tablets) can cure kidney stones. Other ayurvedic medicines used for the treatment of kidney stones are cystone tablets (1 to 2 tablets twice daily for 6 to 8 weeks) and calcury tablets (1 to 2 tablets twice or thrice daily for 6 to 8 weeks).

If the bladder stores the urine for a long time, then it leads to kidney stones. You need to cut down on foods that contain salt in excess. Add more green vegetables to your diet as they provide the body with essential nutrients such as calcium.

A comprehensive list of the changes you should make are:

  1. Avoid eating dry and heavy foods
  2. Limit consumption of coffee, tea, pickle based foods and cold drinks
  3. Restrict consumption of non-vegetarian foods such meat and poultry
  4. Drink adequate water regularly
  5. Consume parboiled rice, brown rice and ginger
  6. Consume lots of fruit juices, soup and water
  7. Increase water consumption during summer months
  8. Don’t suppress the urge to urinate

Some herbal remedies to control kidney stones are combining “Mehendi” with water to form a decoction and then consuming it. Increase consumption of horse-gram as it decreases risk of kidney stones. Make sure you exercise on a regular basis as it improves your overall well-being and keeps you healthy.

Male Menopause - How It Can Be Treated?

Male menopause also called ‘andropause’ is characterized by changes in the male hormone ‘testosterone’ due to age. Other names that are used to describe similar symptoms are ‘androgen deficiency’, ‘testosterone deficiency’ and ‘late-onset of hypogonadism’.

What Is Male Menopause?

Because men do not go through a well-defined period referred to as menopause, some doctors refer to this problem as androgen (testosterone) decline in the aging male -- or what some people call low testosterone. Men do experience a decline in the production of the male hormone testosterone with aging, but this also occurs with conditions such as diabetes. Testosterone is a hormone which is produced in the testes and it plays an important role in a man’s body; from regulating sex drive, increasing energy levels in the body, maintaining muscle mass to bringing about changes during puberty. Male menopause differs from female menopause in a few aspects and not all men are affected by it. However, this condition doesn’t cause impotence.

Symptoms:

Along with the decline in testosterone, some men experience symptoms that include:

  1. Fatigue
  2. Weakness
  3. Depression
  4. Sexual problems

The symptoms of male menopause are low energy levels, fatigue, depression and an inability to focus on anything. You will lose muscle tone coupled with an increase in body fat; the muscles in the body also tend to become weak. Some other symptoms are decreased bone density and breast development.

Causes:

There are no specific causes as such, but aging is known to play a major role in male menopause. Certain lifestyle factors such as depression, stress and anxiety can cause some symptoms of male menopause to show up such as erectile dysfunction. Not eating a balanced diet and not following a proper exercise regimen and drinking or smoking excessively can trigger symptoms of male menopause.

Treatment:

Once the diagnosis is done, the doctor will chart out a treatment course. The common treatment for male menopause is to make certain changes in your lifestyle – eating a well-balanced diet, getting optimal sleep and exercising regularly. Making these types of changes has been proven to dramatically improve the health of men affected by male menopause.

Another option is hormone replacement therapy, wherein synthetic or artificial testosterone is administered to the body. It is similar to performance e    nhancers in terms of its side effects. So it is advised to consult your doctor and take a well-founded decision on whether to go ahead with the hormone replacement therapy.

Ayurvedic Management of Male Menopause:

  1. Manage your emotions through yoga and meditation.
  2. Attend couple’s counselling and talk your doctor about your issues. Educate yourself and your family about the condition.
  3. Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption.
  4. Maintain your weight by doing regular exercise and diet.
  5. Do regular body oil massage with Ksheerabala taila, Sesame oil or Mahanarayana taila.
  6. You can undergo Ayurvedic treatments like Shirodhara, Rasayana and Vajikarana chikitsa to rejuvenate your body and enhance your sexual health.

Ayurvedic medicines like Ashwagandha, Kapikachhu, Shilajit, Gokshura, Musli, Amalaki, Punarnava, Chandraprabha vati, etc. are very beneficial.

Ayurvedic Treatment for Infertility in Male & Female

Infertility refers to the condition of the biological inability of a male or female to contribute to conception. In Ayurveda, male and female infertility problems are treated not just physically, but also emotionally and spiritually. According to the holistic science system of Ayurveda, the body is divided into various Dhatus or elements. The Dhatu that is responsible for reproductive health is called as the Shukra Dhatu. If the Shukra Dhatu fails to receive its due share of nutrition, it can cause obstruction in the reproductive channels.

A few causes can be poor digestion and lack of well-balanced diet, the presence of too many toxins in the body, mental disturbances of anxiety, depression, and insomnia, hormonal imbalance, consuming extra hot and spicy foods, which increase the body heat and thereby weaken the Shukra Dhatu, by birth impotency, etc. Also, sexual overindulgence or controlling of sexual urges for long period of time can eventually lead to impotency in some cases.

The field of Ayurveda dates back to several thousand years when even modern medicine did not exist. Ayurveda looks at improving the overall health of men or women who are suffering from infertility problems and thus, improves their chances of conception with the least medicinal intervention. Follow this natural treatment based on Ayurveda, to tackle the issue of infertility.

Enhance the Shukra Dhatu:
It is recommended that an improvedlevel of Shukra Dhatu is necessary in order to increase the reproductive capacity in both men and women. There are many natural foods and herbs that can be consumed by men (asparagus, dates, and almonds) and women (quinoa grains, pineapple, milk, and broccoli) that can help you in conceiving faster.

Stay away from spicy food:
The Shukra Dhatu requires a cold environment in order to support fertility. So, too much spicy food can deter the quality of Shukra Dhatu. It leads to less motility of sperm in men and also lowers the quality of ovum in women.

Try the shirodhara therapy:
In order to treat hormonal imbalances, certain medicated oils can be used in head massages. This special rhythmic movement of oil over the forehead induces a balance in the mind and stimulates the glands to secrete the right amount of hormones.

Include medicinal herbs in your diet:
In Ayurveda, natural herbs are used to improve fertility in both men and women. Herbs like Kapikacchu or MucunaPruriens improve quantity and quality of sperm in men, while Lodhra or SymplocosRacemosa can stimulate hormones when consumed by women. Gokshura or TribulusTerrestris can be consumed by both men and women to boost fertility.

Adopt the right lifestyle:
Leading a stress-free life is very important in order to conceive a healthy baby. Quit bad habits like smoking and alcohol or drugs and carry a positive attitude. Also, learn to relax, no matter what. You should always think positive thoughts, and learn to stay calm as much as you can. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!
