Your puzzled situation and thoughts of self harm suggest some severe type of disorder, most like ya complicated type of depression. This is common in people with hypothyroidism.
Such a severe problem may require target oriented counseling along with some medications from a psychiatrist.
You may also need a re evaluation of your thyroid levels.
Without any hesitation or delay, consult a psychiatrist, preferably with a family member along, for a detailed management.

Hi lybrate-user,
Just internet for free counselling services. There are 5-6 organisations that are running free services. Their calling numbers are provided. Also, there are few where you can email the issue as anonymous. Just do some search. I am sure you will find some.
You can in fact follow counsellor/ psychologist . Almost all of them post blogs and articles suggesting simple tips and tricks. Those cannot be of equal level to therapy but surely helpful. Take care.

Since you know some thing is wrong between you and your wife, either try to talk it out with your wife. If that effort meets a dead end, contact a marriage counselor and get in to therapy.
