Regards lybrate-user. With the provided information, it appears the disorder is affecting multiple systems - joints, urinary system, gastrointestinal (relating to weight loss). He may benefit from a consult with a rheumatologist. Rheumatological disorders are different from other disorders as they involve autoimmune issues (that is our own body's defense system, affects our own tissues). They tend to affect multiple systems at same time, and often tend to be misdiagnosed / mismanaged.

Ice therapy would definitely help to reduce the inflammation. We also advise you to use knee cap which would help to prevent the knee from damaging further and also to maintain the quadriceps muscle tone. Stiffness have developed due to weakness of the ligaments &inflammed cartilage. Specific knee exercises will also help ie. Keeping ball underneath the knee and keep pressing it. Yes do x-ray of affected knee. U can do the following exercises for knee pain
follow these dos and don’ts to help your knees feel their best.
