About 80% to 90% of retina procedures are successful, but you might need to have more than one. It may take several months for your vision to return. Some people don't get all of their vision back, especially in more severe cases. A detached retina won't heal on its own.

Crossed eyes occur either due to nerve damage or when the muscles around your eyes don't work together because some are weaker than others. When your brain receives a different visual message from each eye, it ignores the signals coming from your weaker eye.

You should see a doctor if you think you may have eye bleeding. Most eye bleeding is harmless and caused by a small broken blood vessel in the outer part of the eye. The cause of eye bleeding isn't always known. Eye bleeding in the pupil and iris, known as hyphema, is rare but may be more serious.

It's normal for a newborn's eyes to wander or cross occasionally during the first few months of life. But by the time a baby is 4 to 6 months old, the eyes usually straighten out. If one or both eyes continue to wander in, out, up, or down — even once in a while — it's probably due to strabismus.
