Dear Team, My son 3 years old and he suffering complex partial epilepsy last 2.5 years. He is given treatment of Zenoxa syrup since 2.5 years. Now ill effect of Zenoxa is observe on teeth (decay) and he is not speaking. Only speak few words like mamma, papa, dada, please suggest.

My daughter had febrile seizure after turning six years. She had 3febrile seizures 3 times before 1.5 years to 3 years old. When she got admitted, she had viral fever and lasted for 3 days. She is having cough and nasal congestion most of the time. Doctor suggested levipil 250 mg for two times for 3 years. I was wondering why levipil is recommended, she is only prone to febrile seizure and not any epileptic conditions and MRI and eeg were normal. Can we go for second opinion to stop levipil dosage and manage fever and during fever only go with frisium tablet. Doctor called currently she is having atypical febrile convulsion. Please suggest.

Hi Mr. lybrate-user. I hope you want to say Mirgi ki bimaari matlab Convulsions.
Your baby has small head size and convulsions. Also baby is recieving Epival which is a good anti epileptic drug. Your baby also underwent MRI brain twice. This all suggests that she has some organic and functional problems which is not good for me to guess without examining your child and going through all the investigation reports. So it is not possible to comment on prognosis of the disease.

Hello doctor, approximately one and half month back my mother had seizures for which she was admitted in emergency. Mri brain contrast was done and it showed one lesion of 4 mm and low grade glioma. She is on epilive 500 mg two times. Now we had to follow up so again mri was done which showed now three lesions in some cms and it says high grade glioma. I wanted to know is it possible to low grade glioma to turn into high grade glioma in a span of one and a half months. If not, should I get mri done again. Please help. Thank you.

My 3 year old daughter had two episode of febrile seizure in past and doc has suggested us to give mefenac ds and 1/2 of frisium 5 mg twice a day to be continued for 3 days whenever she gets fever above 99. Also my concern here is after giving frisium my daughter becomes irritated, drowsy. Want to know how does this irritation and drowsiness last?

Good afternoon, first of all, seizure activity itself would cause great harm to the brain, hence the precipitating factor (here fever) needs to be controlled. N secondly, after frisium, the child may feel drowsy, it's a common side effect, she would get fine within 1-2 days.

Did she have a disease called epilepsy from before? If that is the case it happens because of discharge of uncontrolled impulses from the brain. It should be controlled with medicines and should not happen. She could also have a functional disorder or a psychiatric condition which causes these events with touching/kissing. Need proper evaluation. A psychiatric consultation may help.

My wife have epilepsy since childhood, last epilepsy episode arrived 2006, then after taking regular medicine and till the time not episode seen, right now two tablets (carbamazepine 200 mg and lamotrigine dt 25 mg taken at night and one tablet naprosyn d is sos for headache. Some time last few months seen headache, dizziness and weakness. Please advise for this condition.

Every individual is different. The cause of seizures needs to be assessed and no one can tell how many seizures will be there. However, it's good you are in the hospital. They will be able to titrate the dose of medicine to control the seizures. Hopefully you are under the care of a neurologist.

Good day Lybrate, my granddaughter is 8 years old. She is unable to talk and walk. She can understand what we say. She only make nodding and humming sounds. She can't walk alone without our assistance. She is underweight child 10.5 kgs and 1.0mtr height, very lean body (skinny). She is having seizures regularly once or twice daily (mostly upon wake up in the morning) with duration of 1-2 minutes max. She shows facial contractions, tightening fists and body stretching during seizers. She is having digestive issues like flatulence, burping and constipation. We use laxatives often for bowl movement.
