On suppressing ovulation and menstruation, the spread of endometrial tissue and pain both are checked. Amenorrhea of 3-6 months can be allowed without any side effects. If Yasmin supresses the pain, you can continue it for some months.

Dear lybrate-user,
you are an unmarried young girl. It is not advisable for you to take norethisterone tablets for long periods like 2 years. But there are long acting injectables like lupron depot of various strengths. You could take it under the supervision of a gynecologist to alleviate your severe symptoms. Wish you symptom free future years.

Don't worry about the spotting as it is possible to have some breakthrough bleeding while on norethisterone. Pain could be due to underlying pathology of endometriosis. I would suggest an alternate progesterone in higher dose for endometriosis but need to review your reports first. For pain you could take tab meftal spas 1 tab three times a day for 2-3 days. Also get a urine routine examination done. Consider a private consultation.
