lybrate-userdear, we should always be having positive thoughts. It is a lump which needs further evaluation and we shouldn't be jumping at the conclusion without getting self examined and investigated. Relax. Go and visit a Gynaecologist or a surgeon please .At times if there is thick breast tissue (breast parenchyma) it gives feeling of a vague lump. So best is get your self examined.

Very rare, 1 in 1000. A common symptom is a lump and should be checked out by a breast specialist, and if breast cancer happens treatment is the same as it is for women.

Cancer is usually detected when it causes symptoms. Some cancers like cervical cancer (pap smear), mouth cancer (examination), Breast cancer (mammogram) and prostate cancer (PSA level) can be diagnosed at an early stage by screening. Once the cancer is detected, the Biopsy is usually done to confirm the diagnosis (except in kidney or brain cancer). Imaging may be done to see the local extent and distant spread of cancer.
The treatment differs according to the site and stage of the disease.more

Was she feeding her baby ? Most common cause of breast infection is breast abcess due to collection of extra milk , reason women are told to extract extra milk and store it in fridge. Other reasons are Diabetes , Bad Hygiene. You have got tested for cancer , get it repeated after 1 year by ultrasound which is equally correct to look for swellings and like mammography does not carry radiation risk.
