Asked for male, 25 years old from Thane

I am 23 years male, I am having ruptured eardrum. A big hole in one ear and small in other one due to excessive use of earbuds. One doctor suggested to have surgery and other suggested to wait for 3 months to let the eardrum heal itself. Will waiting cause any long term effect on my hearing power or should I go for Surgery.

I am 23 years old. I met ENT doctor for my ear which had puss draining from it for every 2 days and he said there is a hole in the ear drum and he said surgery is the only option to cure it. He gave me ear drops, using this made all the liquid drain out from my ear. My doubt is am able to hear properly and I also read that for eardrum rupture surgery is the last option. Should I go for surgery or any other remedy is available?

You need a surgery for hole in eardrum with recurrent infection. You can confirm your hearing level with help of a test called audiometry. You are young person you should not carry on such problem for prolonged period. In rare types of ear drum hole a nonsurgical procedure called chemical cautery can be tried but if it works for you that has to be decided by your ent surgeon. Success rate of such procedure is around 50% so the best option is surgery only.

Hello doctor, I slapped my brother 2 days back, after continuous complain about ear ringing, we went to doctor today and doc told that it might be due to eardrum rupture but he is not sure. So he prescribed OTOREX, NUROKIND PLUS, CELIN. After giving ear drops, he is complaining that his ringing sound is more. Pls help me in this matter. Thank you in advance.

Stop all the medicines that you are taking. There could have been a traumatic perforation of the ear drum or the nerves in the inner ear might have got temporarily damaged.
Get an ent consultation done to rule out if there is any perforation of the ear drum. Do not allow any water to enter the ear. Put cotton inside the ear & keep the ear dry for about 15 days. The ringing sensation should go on its own.

Wax is a normal byproduct of ear cleansing and local defense. Do not get into habit of cleaning it until it causes symptoms. If you have ruptured ear drum without other significant symptoms like ear discharge, hearing loss etc, then you may wait for surgery.

Hello doctor, I want to consult with you regarding tinnitus and hearing loss, I am having tinnitus since few years and also I get vertigo - my last vertigo was 2 years ago and post that I was having mild tinnitus always in my right ear, past 2 weeks I had sleepless nights and post that my tinnitus has got worse and from last 4 days I am also having hearing loss around 10 days ago I consulted doctor and he suggested tinnex injection and I took that but there is no improvement infact it got worse, I am current taking tinnex capsule and stugeron plus twice a day and 1 alprax 0,25 before bed.
