It would be helpful and easier to comment of the lesions could be seen.
But as per your description white rings over the tongue sound like glossitis with candidiasis, but difficult to comment without a visul aid.
H.pylori is a bacteria not a fungi, so I doubt if your fungal test has been done because candidiasis is due to a fungus candida albicans.
A proper history is required about your diet and medications used.

May be he got infection before the cigarette episode.
1. Avoid exposure to cold
2. Take bath with little warm water 3. Do steam inhalation regularly at least once a day
4. Warm salt water gargles daily 5 no cold water / cold drinks / ice creams and so on
6. No smoking/ avoid pollution 7. Wash hands after use of bath room and before and after eating food.
8 more warm liquids medicine can not be advised for open question for medicine contact on private consultation good luck.
