Not all eye drops are preservative free (BAK). And there is no harm in using preservative drops for shorter duration. Only in cases of longer duration medication, these preservatives will be toxic to the eye. And yes. You need to apply the medicine inside the eye at lid margin (fornix).

Causes may be..various like pink eye,macular degeneration,due to pollution,heat senstivity,any viral infection or many more
Take proper rest..have green leafy veg and bit A,go for omega 3 fatty acid supplements under doctors prescription..do warm compress to wash your eyes ,dont rub..
