If a qualified surgeon is telling you that amputation and skin grafting is not required, why worry. You should be more than happy about your brother’s condition. Your doctor is the best judge as he has evaluated your brother in person.

Chronic painful ulcer. Get the vessels of his legs evaluated. Most likely he could be having peripheral vascular disease. Narrowing of the vessels reduces blood supply to the extremities. Atherosclerosis, chronic smoking are the common reasons. Hope his blood sugars are normal. Get him evaluated accordingly. Treatment differs according to the cause.
