Did she receive chemotherapy for colon cancer? Peripheral neuropathy can be common in patients who have received chemo. Also Kindly check her vitamin B 12 and blood glucose levels. Vitamin B 12 deficiency, diabetes etc can also lead to burning sensation. Depending on the cause treatment can be suggested.
For temporary relief you can try applying aloe vera gel, or soak feet in water mixed with epsom salt or apply coconut oil.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query
The symptoms mentioned do point out towards neuropathy. In diabetes this a common complication, some times develops fairly early. Proper glucose control, and if needed certain medications which can reduce the neuropathic pain can be used. Thanks.
