Deviated Nasal Septum Health Feed

Asked for male, 64 years old from Dindigul

I am 62 years old male. I had profuse nose bleeding three times between 12th and 13th of March 2016, despite immediate medical attention on the first two occasions and once as an in-patient. I was transferred to another corporate hospital and was hospitalised till 17th March. I ran a high BP of 170/90 in the first instant and became quite normal at the time of the third instance. I suffer from septum deviation for more than 25 years and take medication on and off. I was diagnosed with EPISTAXIS RIGHT NOSTRIL, DEVIATED NASAL SEPTUM -LEFT and UPPER AIRWAY RESISTANCE SYNDROME. The Diagnostic Nasal Endoscopy and Cauterization were done on 14th and I am to be reviewed after 15 days. Presently I am on medication. Will this treatment solve my problem on permanent basis?

Cauterisation does not solve your problem permanently.
Try to control your hypertension.
If you are a smoker, stop it
surgery to your deviated nasal septum may solve your problem, if it associated with spur.

This is due to dns (deviated nasal septum) that will require surgery for correction. If u are having breathing problem go for it.

I do not smoke and drink, non-egg eater, pure vegetarian. I am not also a Hypertension patient and my BP went up due to heavy bleeding from my nose. Soon after it became normal and remains so even now. I think my septum deviation must have caused such a large amount of bleeding, never occurred to me for the last 20 years.

Sir.
It is other way round. It is your hypertension that caused bleeding nose. Our nose has a lining membrane called nasal mucosa which contains blood vessels and due to aging they become stiff loosing ability to contract in response to injury/bleeding. Your hypertension creates increased pressure in the blood vessel leading to bleeding.
Correction of deviated nasal septum and removal of any spurs in the septum, may solve your problem provided hypertension is under control.

Hi my nose is always blocked due to which I am facing breathing problem specially in night I had a ct pns it says All paranasal sinuses are clear. Thickened inferior turbinate seen in the right nasal cavity could be a spectrum of nasal cycle. Mild deviation of nasal septum towards right side is observed. Doctor says I should go for surgery or laser Can it be cured by any medicines,

If nasal block is only on right side and no sneezing/running nose then it can be due to dns to rt but your ct report says only mild dns which should not cause such problem. Take second opinion of a ent spe and follow their advise. If dns is the cause then surgery is only option.

Listen friend more than 70 percent have some form of nasal septal deviation. Many are asymptomatic. They are treated surgically is a true statement but only if they are symptomatic. Like nasal obstruction, recurrent nasal bleed and obviously obstructive sleep apnoea a spectrum of disease associated with snoring, excessive day time somnolence and frequent night awakenings.

I am 56 years old male I have chronic nose congestion with post nasal drip. I am having this problem for the last 5 years and have tried homeopathy which did not help me. MRI was taken shows polyop both sides and septum deviation. I was recommended for surgery. I would like to avoid surgery. While sleeping at night nose tends get blocked. better to gofoe surgery and finish your problem rather than postponing and causing more complications and risking yourself .be brave and remove your polyps

I have sensing same bad smell for everything like food or anything for a week. So I used metaspray 2 puffs twice daily and cogniplux and neurobaplus for 15 days. Now my smell improved. My ct scan of paranasal sinuses -plain impression: no evidence of sinusitis mild to moderate deviation of nasal septum to right. Bilateral moderate inferior turbinate hypertrophy. Is scan report normal or do I need any medicines for it or not? If so for how many months and dosage?

As per you ct report you don't need to take nay medicine however if there is an improvement with above drugs I would suggest you to continue for 2 more weeks and stop.
