Deviated nasal septum starts around puberty reaches its full development at the age of 20 yrs. Common in both sexes. Many cases are hereditary. Lack of descent of the palate may cause buckling of the cartilaginous part of septum.

Causes:

Septum grow at same rate like root. If septum start growing at rapid rate it becomes buckled to accommodate itself.

If you r having complaints of nose obstruction and this is interfering with your daily routine you should go for septoplasty. Yes this is a safe surgery done under local anesthesia. Now a days done with endoscopy with minimal pain and bleeding.

If we talk about nasal septal deviation, probably you will find it in 90% of the general population or may be more. Surgery is required only when the deviation is causing the problem like nasal blockage on the side of deviation, frequent nasal bleed, chronic headache or sinusitis. If you have those symptoms, its advisable for surgery or else not required.

Dear lybrateuser,
- Difficulty in breathing can lead to less oxygenation of tissues which may lead to excessive sweating
- get the DNS corrected so that you are able to breathe properly & also get a sound sleep.

No it is not normal.
And surgery is not useful in most of the cases.
As after some time the septum again gets hypertrophic and gets deviated.
It can be stopped by homoeopathic treatment.
You can consult me at Lybrate.
