Hello lybrate-user!
sometimes dryness of scalp too causes itching. For a healthy hair healthy scalp is needed. Have a balanced nutritious diet. Include nuts and fruits in your diet. Moisturise scalp with almond oil/ olive oil mixed with castor oil. Apply tea tree oil or you can mix it with shampoo. Use anti dandruff shampoo only twice a week. Anti dandruff shampoo containing zinc pyrithione, sulphate and zinc oxide, selenium are active ingredients you can apply.

I am 21 year old male and I had a dry skin and scalp for the past 6 7 years which in time lead to dandruff and then seborrheic dermatitis and eczema, flaky skin, red skin/ irritation on my face, scalp and other parts. I am getting treatments from different dermatologist since past 2.5 years and almost all of them always advised me different types of anti fungal containing ingredients such as ketoconazole, ciclopirox olamine, zinc pyrithione, salicylic acid, fluconazole, terbinafine, fluticasone etc in different forms such as shampoos, creams, sprays, tablets. Now the thing is that almost 80% of the antifungal does their work, cleans the flakes and rashes but as soon as I discontinue these products, all the symptoms and flakiness tends to come back the very next day. All of these antifungal cleans the flakes but they do not really help in stopping them from coming back. I am very frustrated right now because you can not really use tons of these every single day for the rest of your life (and you should not they have side effects). This one doctor gave me an adequate reason after the blood test was that my blood eosinophil count was higher (536) than normal range (40-440). I could really really use some treatment or advice regarding how to stop these symptoms from coming back, thank you.

Hi.dandruff is basically the superficial (outermost) layer of skin which sheds quickly rather than a period of 30 - 40 days.
Mild dandruff can be treated with a gentle daily shampoo. Your daughter can use adult shampoo little diluted with water. Ask her to wash her hair daily. If it doesn’t work then apply medicated shampoo containing zinc, selenium sulphide and salicylic acid.
You can apply tea tree oil which has anti fungal properties, add it to your shampoo. It will soothe the scalp...more
