Sir, I am 68 year old copd patient, I am was chain smoker, spirometry test result is (fvc =56) & (fev 1= 45), I am now taking medicine such as brofil sr, daw lm, calgrow forte (whole medicine taking at night, loftair inhaler (at morning), nebulization twice a day. I am getting treatment from Dr. R.k. Chopra (from pune, rubby hall), but because of lock down he didn't visit yet in ahmednagar, now I am feeling breathless during up stairs and light work also, so please guide mi whether medicines are right or do some other.

You can take duolin nebulisation three times a day ,with inhalers. But please make sure you don't have tachycardia or else decrease the dose.

Your treatment seems to be adequate, please let me know high nebulisation are you taking. Try and do some yoga and deep breathing exercises. Pulmonary rehabilitation is an important aspect of the treatment.

Hexicof ls has antihistaminics and levosalbutamol and mucolytics. Since you r already on and inhalers montek fx which has antihistaminics already and bronchodilators I will not advice using a substitute. Its better to find plain mucolytics of some other brand.

Hyperflated both lung, repeated pft normal (79.1 & 81.9 ).blood report normal. Symptom was heavy cough for 3/4 .nothing else. Smoked for 15 years, family history asthma. Doctor says copd. Prescribed foracort 200 rotacap two capsule morning night. With medicine no cough, morning symptoms, nothing. Doctor said next visit he will reduce the dose. 4 month lockdown and covid, hospital outdoor is close ,cannot meet doctor. currently experiencing dry mouth, throat ,carving for something. May be side effect, I does not know. Please advice how much does should I reduce?

You can reduce it to one capsule each time for this month and it can be tapered accordingly next month. Have you recently stopped smoking? Make sure you rinse your mouth after using the inhaler.

The treatment seems adequate and has to be continued as per doctor's advice.
Inquire about influenza & pneumococcal vaccination from your doctor, it helps in reducing flare up incidents.

Dear sir, supradyn is a vitamin and cannot cure breathlessness of copd / asthma.
You need to visit a pulmonologist and get your pft done.
Pft will help in proper staging of disease and choosing of inhaler for treatment.

Hi doctor, I am copd patient, I have done first test on 25th april, from this day to until now (18th may) I am in an isolation camp in dubai under observation of dha. Physically I was well all these days and have no any specific symptoms of cavity yet. Sometimes I will have small headaches and coughs but it will not last long. Within these days dha taken 6 swab test samples and the results was 1 negative and 5 positives. Why it is happened like that? I am very curious to know the cavity status in my body.

hello George... I think you mean COVID (Cavity).
There are many patients who don't suffer dangerous effects of virus. Not all patients get all the symptoms or become serious.
Take proper treatment as suggested.

Health Query

Sir my mother aged about 70 years, is under medication for copd from 2003. From last one year, she is on oxygen (around 2 liters/minute) and intermittent bipap support. Now, though we are maintaining her spo2 around 85-90, she is still feeling difficulty in breathing. Cough or sputum symptoms are not observed. But she is feeling comfortable, if we are giving medrol tablets (methyl prednisolone) 8 m.g at least for 3 to 5 days in addition to regular inhalers foracort and tiomate. Now my query is (i) can medrol be given daily? What's the safe dose (like 4 mg or 8 mg, which can be given daily? If not (ii) with how many days gap, again the medicine medrol can given? Pls do the needful. Thanks in advance.

Medrol is a steroid, which is used for a short course during exacerbation of bronchial asthma or copd.
It must not be given on daily basis. Self medication wth steroids is dangerous because of potential side effects.
Always consult a pulmonologist before starting.
