A common culprit for muffled hearing is excessive ear wax (cerumen). Ear wax can sometimes build up in the ear canal and cause a blockage. This ear wax can dry up and harden over time, increasing the risk of impaction. Impacted ear wax can affect your ability to hear.

Some causes of ear pain can be serious such as tumors or infections, including cellulitis or shingles. If your ear pain is severe, doesn’t go away within a few days of home treatment, or comes with a high fever or sore throat, or you get a new rash, visit your doctor right away for treatment and to rule out something more serious.

Ear infections are a common cause of earaches or ear pain. Ear infections can occur in the outer, middle, and inner ear. Outer ear infection can be caused by swimming, wearing hearing aids or headphones that damage the skin inside the ear canal, or putting cotton swabs or fingers in the ear canal.

Your ear pain is due to overuse of headphones and you should stop using headphones or reduce the use and volume of the earphone and every half an hour of using it give some break by removing headphones and listening to normal voice or just stay without any sound waves falling on your ears.

Hi lybrate-user you have a pretty long history of ear infection. You need to send me your past reports and need more details to help you better. Right now it looks like a recurrence of your infection or an involvement of vestibular system of your ear which is causing the balance issues. Message me your past reports and your symptoms. That way I will be able to help you better.

Middle ear infections often go away on their own within 2 or 3 days, even without any specific treatment. In some cases, an infection can last longer (with fluid in the middle ear for 6 weeks or longer), even after antibiotic treatment.
