Adenoidectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the adenoid. The adenoid is a gland which is present on the roof of the mouth; its role is to produce antibodies to protect the body against infections. Usually the adenoid glands diminish during your adolescence and disappear by the time you are an adult. Respiratory and throat infections that are chronic in nature, are the main causes of infection in the adenoid glands.

Adenoids are part of the ENT (ear-nose-tongue) area. They are basically lump of tissues situated at the back of the nose and higher up in the throat passage. Along with tonsils, they form a part of the lymphatic system and are also known as pharyngeal tonsils. They work in conjunction with tonsils to keep infections and viruses at bay. They also help in maintaining the body fluid balance.

Adenoids are tonsils located behind the nose which affect a fair percentage of the population, especially children. Despite a difference in location, adenoids are essentially like tonsils in their characteristic properties which cause a host of issues. These adenoids get reduced in size as a person ages though it is not abnormal for children to have enormous adenoids.

Everyone has tonsils they are a part of the throat structure.
You must be having recurrent tonsillitis, or infection in the tonsils. If you have recurrent infection more than 4 times a year, please go ahead for tonsillectomy. If not, medical management is adequate. Coblation, radio frequency, cold knife and laser are just a method of removing the tonsils.
Cost varies depending on the kind of hospital you get operated in.
Warm regards
