Everyone has tonsils they are a part of the throat structure.
You must be having recurrent tonsillitis, or infection in the tonsils. If you have recurrent infection more than 4 times a year, please go ahead for tonsillectomy. If not, medical management is adequate. Coblation, radio frequency, cold knife and laser are just a method of removing the tonsils.
Cost varies depending on the kind of hospital you get operated in.

Adenoidectomy with tonsillectomy is s safe procedure and complications of surgery are very rare. Usually post operatively after a week no major precautions are required and he can be sent to school after a week.
