Hi, I have had a swollen lymph node in my neck for about a month now, I did go to a GP, we did extended blood tests, everything came perfect, we checked for Lymphocytes, HIV, and many other things. No infections were found, we even tested for Toxoplasmosis. I have am so scared that this is lymphoma, I have been obsessed for a while, but can I eliminate lymphoma out knowing that my WBC counts and Lymphocyte results came in perfect and normal ranges? I absolutely have no other symptoms to describe other than chest pain. Can I eliminate Lymphoma out? The next step according to my doctor is to take a CT scan, I really can not afford further tests for now, if lymphoma can be eliminated, I will postpone to have a CT scan.

Just by lymphocyte result it cannot be eliminated. There is no other report of FNAc being put or reports of excision biopsy. This are invasive procedure. CT scan is a noninvasive procedure. It has to be investigated thoroughly.

lybrate-user ji, Thanks for the query. Usually hypothyroidism seen during pregnancy goes away after delivery. Therefore if TSH is normal after few weeks of pregnancy then there is no need to take thyroxine tablets. TSH should be with in the specified range. Thanks.

Sir, my mother age 70 is suffering from esophagus cancer since August 2016. 3 cycle of cisplatin and 5fu followed by 23 radiation ends on February 2017. From may 2017 she feels sometimes occasional problem in swallowing food.in December 2017 endoscopy done suggest s 6 cm squm cell carcinoma which was confirmed in may 2018 pet scan results 5.9 cm mass met. To skeleton. Now last 10 days she is unable to swallow food and food gets stuck in her esophagus results vomiting with lots of mucous. From may 2017 she continuously taking medicine. Oflox400 and enzoflam tab as prescribed by doctor. Initially these medicines are helpful in swallowing but now even Water is painful while swallowing. She become very lean and thin. Sir what are the options and what should I do for better quality of life.

Sorry to know about your mother suffering. From what I guess unable to swallow is troubling her more .For that there are options of either to insert Endoscopy guided Ryles tube (food pipe) or Esophageal Stent. If the above not possible then there is another option of doing a small surgery to insert a tube directly into the Jejunum that known as Feeding Jejunostomy. Please discuss all the options with your Oncologist for better guidance.

I have one serious query related to my dad can any one help me out because right now my entire family in stress and my dad is not well to we are doing best for my dad as he is suffering from IPF. Treatment is going on as per doctor advice. Doctor told me that its normal just take medicine and some precautions like stay away from dust, smoke etc Can any one help me out how serious disease is it (IPF) doc advice Fibrodone medicine twice a day till 3 month my dad health is okay but he is not getting internal body power like previous he is I don't know what to do now. He is feeling like down after few walks outside he feels down its because of disease? Is there any way to gain internal energy to improve the stamina and gain some body power like previously he is. Is it serious disease IPF? Because I read on internet life cycle with this disease is 3 to 5 years its true? I am really worried can any one help me out for this. I want to do best for my dad Thank you.

My father is 78 years old. Recently he suffered high fever, was diagnosed perforated gallbladder causing fluid leakage, swelling and infection. Cluster of stones detected in ultrasound and CT Scan. He was admitted and fluid made to dry with medicine and antibiotics. He is now fit and normal. However, doctors advised gallbladder surgery as it will repeat the ailment. He is diabetic and has undergone heart bypass surgery in 2012. Presurgery tests - all ok except heart functioning at 28% (high risk). We are too much worried and confused as surgery is must. Is it ok to go ahead with surgery?

You can go ahead with surgery in a centre where there is cardiac backup like Medanta, Fortis or Apollo. Still it will be a high risk surgery.

Gall bladder cancer usually spreads to the liver by contiguous spread, which is curable although advanced (hence percent cured is less)
However if it has metastasised to the liver, then cure is unlikely and treatment is palliative.

If it is thyroid cancer of size more than 1 cm It is preferable to go for total thyroidectomy. You would also need radioiodine therapy after the surgery. Thyroidectomy can be performed robotically or laparoscopically with no visible scar with excellent results.
