Shingles is caused by the varicella-zoster virus — the same virus that causes chickenpox. Because of this, shingles is also known as herpes zoster. But the virus that causes chickenpox and shingles is not the same virus responsible for cold sores or genital herpes, a sexually transmitted infection.

Hello and welcome to Lybrate. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Do not use alcoholic drinks for one month at least after the chicken pox recovery. I suggest you to stop alcohol completely and I can help you on that.
You can contact me for further advice and treatment options. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.
