Hi lybrate-user,
I appreciate you seeking help for your mother. Given to understand that her cancer is now metastatic, I believe her oncologist is doing the needful to deal with complications and help her out suitably. Her present symptomatology, as you describe, is most probably owing to the cancer's spread to brain, and may as well be due to the treatment side effects. Her oncologist, nevertheless, can best decide on the palliative measures/ treatment as is contextually appropriate in her ...more

Hi Sakina,
I appreciate you seeking help. Well, contextually, I would advise that you consult your oncologist first in this regard, and proceed as per his recommendations. Should it require, he may advise anal suppository/ enema, as would deem appropriate post clinical evaluation, to clear off the hard stool first. Subsequently, streamlining your diet/ lifestyle may help get over this issue on the long run. You can include ripe papaya, apple, figs, raisins, dates, prunes etc all in your dail...more

Kindly give detailed history of patient. Most useful treatment for cure is surgery, if surgery is no feasible then go for chemotherapy and radiotherapy. In stage 3 generally surgery is not possible, so go for CT+RT followed by surgery or definitive CT+RT.
It's all depends upon age, general condition of patient, biopsy, location of tumor. If we add radiotherapy to chemotherapy ,it will be more beneficial. Give ct scan, oesophago scopy report, age for proper decision.

Dear lybrate-user,
after cancer chemotherapy hemoglobin and blood count is likely to go down. If it is severely down then blood transfusion is indicated. I hope he must be already on blood forming and stimulating agents. If not they can be used on weekly or fortnightly or monthly basis. Your doctor will advise you. Secondly chemotherapy should be suspended till there is regeneration of hemoglobin.

Hi,
There are some types of instruments available in some places with which you can exercise and you will have significant relief if you spend time morning and evening doing these jaw opening exercises. You can find out in your city or order from Mumbai. We regularly prescribe to our head and neck cancer patients.
Good Luck !

Trust your doctors. If they are advising BMT-Bone Marrow Transplant then obviously they are not satisfied with the result- as you have recurred. You are young so they want to give you the best.
