Dear Mr. lybrate-user.
A CT scan is not sufficient to diagnose cervical cancer. The patient will need a colposcopic examination and sos biopsy in case of any suspicious areas. If a cancer is suspected, then MRI will give further information.
So a thorough clinicial, colposcopic and radiological examination will only confirm the diagnosis of cancer.

The cost at AIIMS for cervical cancer is not too expensive. If you want to go to AIIMS you should go as fast as possible because they usually have a waiting list.
Good luck !

hi if HPV is positive then you need to monitor 6-12monthly for cervical cancer, if HPV is positive then it doesn't mean that it is 100% risk of cervical cancer.
it depends upon strain of HPV and associate risk factors.

Hi lybrate-user. The first step would be to visit a gynaecologist and get an internal examination. After that further tests like pap and usg etc can be decided. In your case, it would be better to get colposcopic examination and done and a biopsy on any suspicious area should be done.

Tamoxifen is known to have a small risk of uterus cancer (endometrial cancer) and not cervical cancer. That's why you need to follow up with regular pelvic scans. But if she is post menopause she can be given different medicines. Can contact oncologist for details.

Tamoxifen theoretically increases the risk of endometrial cancer and not cervical cancer. Hence you have to do a 6 monthly usg abdomen to measure endometrial thickness. If it increases beyond a certain limit, tamoxifen will be stopped and other endocrine therapy may be started. However risk is small and the advantage of tamoxifen outweigh the risks.

I hope you got your wife properly examined. There can be many causes of white discharge. Even cervix cancer can be detected by proper examination and a pap smear test. Your wife will get cured if properly taken care of and you should not loose hope. Take her to a good gynecologist for examination who will properly examine her and ask for necessary investigations to rule out the problem.

Dear sir/mam. She had cancer of cervix, post op for which she underwent hysterectomy followed by chemotherapyand radiation therapy. Patient is likely to do well but you need to tell us the histopathology report of surgery and the stage at the time of diagnosis. Cervical cancer patients generally do well post treatment and live long so don't worry but do go for routine follow up check up at least six monthly to your primary doctor.
