Asked for male, 39 years old from Aurangabad

She is my mother in law diagnosed breast cancer in 2016 and had surgery. Recent pet scan shows it's spread in lungs and intestines. No chemo or radiation therapy has been done till today. Kindly suggest the best treatment.

Hi, it's not fight against radiotherapy and chemotherapy, it's go along with them. You need to fight against the cancer. During the above said treatments you will be regularly monitored by your Doctors for the toxicities and managed accordingly. Additionally you should be having a positive thoughts and hopes that you will successfully fight against the cancer and follow the instructions given to you by your doctors.

My father in law is suffering from lung cancer and it's spread in brain. Doctors have done radiation therapy. Now they are about to do chemotherapy or targeted therapy. But I have heard that radiotherapy and chemotherapy leads to damaging of healthy cells too which leads to death. Please help me out.

Yes it's true that radiotherapy and chemotherapy do damage normal cells, but normal cells have ability to repair themselves faster, hence do not die. Higher techniques like IMRT, RAPIDARC TOMOTHERAPY, VMAT, which are available in many centres, decrease the radiation to the normal cells and plenty of supportive medicines help you to overcome the toxicities of chemotherapy.

His age is 81 & general condition is good as verified by Oncologist M.D. What are the pros & cons of 1. Chemotherapy 2. Radiotherapy 3. No treatment. 4. Sir, my mother age 70 is suffering from esophagus cancer since August 2016. 3 cycle of cisplatin and 5fu followed by 23 radiation ends on February 2017. From may 2017 she feels sometimes occasional problem in swallowing food.in December 2017 endoscopy done suggest s 6 cm squm cell carcinoma which was confirmed in may 2018 pet scan results 5.9 cm mass met. To skeleton. Now last 10 days she is unable to swallow food and food gets stuck in her esophagus results vomiting with lots of mucous. From may 2017 she continuously taking medicine. Oflox400 and enzoflam tab as prescribed by doctor. Initially these medicines are helpful in swallowing but now even Water is painful while swallowing. She become very lean and thin. Sir what are the options and what should I do for better quality of life.

Sorry to know about your mother suffering. From what I guess unable to swallow is troubling her more .For that there are options of either to insert Endoscopy guided Ryles tube (food pipe) or Esophageal Stent. If the above not possible then there is another option of doing a small surgery to insert a tube directly into the Jejunum that known as Feeding Jejunostomy. Please discuss all the options with your Oncologist for better guidance.

If your dentist told you its nothing to worry about then you should not worry about something serious. A line is formed in cheek near where your upper and lower teeth meets. Usually it appears both side of cheek. If you have same thing then don't worry. If its something else then you can consult another dentist for opinion.
