The possible reasons could be age, injury, nutrition, chemotherapy, ehler-danlos syndrome, von willebrand disease and few more.

No steroids are not to be applied with proper medical prescription as they may enhance infection many many times and you may do more harm than good. Please show it to a plastic surgeon who may explain how to take care and proper dressing as within 2 days chances of infection are very high.
