If the doctors have suggested surgery it is mos likely that the stroke is causing brain swelling and the resultant increase in pressure is causing threat to life. Surgery is therefore life saving. Unfortunately it has no implication on physical recovery since that is dependent on the size of the stroke and part of the brain that is affected.

Your hemoglobin count is very high. This may clog small blood vessels and cause stroke. You need to rule out kidney disease that may raise erythropoietin. You also need to rule out OSA or sleep apnea. For detailed discussion call me after a online appointment through Lybrate.

Namaste,
It is not clear from what you wrote/ the doctor said that how old is that brain hemorrhage and how severe- but yes, there are people who get strokes because of bleeding in the brain but revived well due to good physical therapy, amongst other reasons.

I'm so sorry lybrate-user, for what you are going through. It can be very difficult to see your father like that. Be patient and listen to his stroke doctors- if they are asking to wait for a couple weeks, it must be for a good reason- sometimes depending on the location of stroke and size of stroke people need longer duration of respiratory support- without looking at his brain scans and knowing more detailed medical history it is hard to tell you anything in particular.
