If your pain is more in the distal joints, ie. Dear Lybrateuser, - The swelling could be due to injury to the soft tissues such as ligament, tendons & subcutaneous tissue
- give rest to the part, avoid putting weight on the foot, use a walker or crutches till swelling subsides
- apply ice pack for 10-15 min 3-4 times a day
-take tablet Brufen, 1 tablet three times a day after meals to reduce swelling
- elevate the limb while sitting or lying down
- apply compression bandage to reduce swelling.

Body painYou need to improve the tone of the muscles in a rhythmical manner. If you do that with proper diet restriction nothing will happen to you. Body pain is there after gym activity due to tiredness and you need to consume good protein and iron diet in your body which will help you to break the fatigue and body pain.

Cracking sounds are usually non pathological but in your case it's painful so my advice is 1- ice foamentation for 10-15 minutes thrice a day for 3 days 2- complete rest to the painful part
3- may use crepe bandage 4- if not bearable go for pain killers.
