Aortic valve stenosis is a heart condition in which the valve to the biggest artery- the one which provides oxygen-rich blood to our body, called aorta, is narrowed. This prevents the valve from opening fully, obstructing the blood flow from your heart into your body.

When the aortic valve doesn t open, your heart needs to work harder to pump blood to your body making the heart muscle weak. If left undiagnosed aortic stenosis is fatal.

In this disorder, the heart has to work extra hard to pump blood, so this adds extra pressure on the blood vessels that are present in the lungs. In a bid to relieve this added pressure, fluid is released into the lungs by the blood vessels.

Very little chance. Angiogram, ECG echo can detect what has already occurred, they cannot predict the future. Cholesterol measurement is advised for prediction, but is almost worthless. Don't rely on check ups, focus on healthy lifestyle. Reduce sugar jaggery alcohol and starchy foods in diet. Balanced diet is healthier than restricted diet. Some mild or moderate exercise. Best wishes.
