Yes you can take, but if you will take after workout then it will be more beneficial because After a rigorous workout, your muscles would be broken down and they would be craving for Amino Acid which comes from Protein Shakes or Protein Rich Foods. Now, you can have foods like eggs/chicken/paneer post workout but since Whey Protein is a fast digesting protein, it is ideal to take it post workout because the protein absorption level is higher.

It is very good to know that you are weight training. An exercising person has to take more protein because when you exercise your muscles break and to repair them and increase their size more protein is required. After a weight training session whey protein powder works the best because it immediately gives you muscle recovery. It has no side effect and has immense benefits when taken in right proportion. You also have to follow a very clean diet (proper nutrition) to get good results.

hello..If you follow a strict balanced diet, proper sleep (minimum 7-8 hours everyday) and heavy weight training with mass gainer then you will see awesome results..but alone mass gainer only give side effects..

If you are into body building, then it is ok to go in for protein shake. As you cannot take the desired levels of protein only through diet when doing weight training. But make sure you take desired levels of protein in entire day and also of a good brand from a genuine place as there is lot of duplicacy in this thing. Purchase directly from a genuine source than from your trainer as they have their margins in between.
