Dear lybrate-user, - Follow some lifestyle measures as it may take a few months for the BP to come down:- have a salt restricted diet, avoid fried, junk & other fat containing foods, also pickles, papads & namkeens, restrict intake of tea, coffee to one to two cups per day if you have more - have more of fibre containing foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains instead of refined ones, low fat milk and dairy products, healthy fats as in olive, canola or sunflower oil for cooking, a handful of unsalted nuts, avocados, fish such tuna, salmon, mackeral & flax seeds - do regular exercise like walking, jogging, cycling for 20-30 min daily - also do yoga, meditation & deep breathing for 10-15 min to relax your mind and body - sleep well for at least 7-8 hrs at night, keep your sleep and wake up time fixed - reduce weight by diet and exercise - monitor BP regularly, if not much change after 3-4 months then you may require medication to lower it.

Eat a high-protein breakfast. Avoid sugary drinks and fruit juice. Drink water a half hour before meals. Choose weight loss-friendly foods (see list. Eat soluble fiber. Drink coffee or tea. Eat mostly whole, unprocessed foods. Eat your food slowly.

Sir, I am having GERD problem from two years. Two years back, in endoscopy it was 'B' grade erosion. Last year again I undergone Endoscopy, it was showing 'A' grade erosion. My family physician suggested me to continue the same tablet GANATON TOTAL (I am taking it from last 2 years. Suggested doctor told me to take for three months, whenever I tried to stop I felt burning sensation so I couldn't stop. So please suggest me how to stop this medication and Is there any problem for taking long time. I am a student preparing for Civil service age 24.

Prevent: 1. Lose weight. Obesity is the leading cause of GERD, Dr. says. Extra stomach fat places pressure on your abdomen, pushing gastric juices up into your esophagus. "Lose weight if you're overweight, and don't gain weight if you're not, he says. 2. Avoid foods known to cause reflux. If you're at risk for GERD, avoid: Fatty foods Spicy foods Acidic foods, like tomatoes and citrus Mint Chocolate Onions Coffee or any caffeinated beverage Carbonated beverages 3. Eat smaller meals. Large meals fill the stomach and put pressure on the LES, making reflux and GERD more likely. 4. Don't lie down after eating. Wait at least three hours before you lie down after a meal. Gravity normally helps keep acid reflux from developing. When you eat a meal and then stretch out for a nap, you're taking gravity out of the equation. As a result, acid more easily presses against the LES and flows into the esophagus. 5. Elevate your bed. Raising the head of your bed six to eight inches can help gravity keep gastric acid down in your stomach. You could also use a wedge-shaped support. Don't use extra pillows, as they only raise your head and will not help with GERD. You need your entire upper body elevated to get relief. 6. Review your medications. There are a number of medications that can increase your risk of GERD, either by relaxing the LES, interfering with the digestive process, or further irritating an already inflamed esophagus.

Take High protein Diet. HAve small and frequent meals. Take Milk and Milk Products. Take 2-3 egg Daily, paneer, shakes, cold coffee, after meal take sweet item. Don't skip breakfast and meals.
