Bell s palsy is a neurological condition that results in a temporary paralysis of the facial muscles. This paralysis or muscle weakness occurs when the cranial nerve responsible for controlling the facial muscles become compressed, swollen or inflamed. Facial paralysis can happen due to many factors. Sometimes inflammation develops around the facial nerve as it passes through the skull from the brain. You need to see a physiotherapist and he/she shall relieve the patient of pain by electrical modalities and exercises and cryitherapy. Only medicines will not work. The tgerapist will also rule out s/s of any other cranial nerve involvement.

You need to start on a course of prednisone (60 to 80 mg/day) plus valacyclovir (1000 mg three times daily) for one week. It will improve I all probability. Check sugars before taking steroids.
