Balanitis/ balanoposthitis is often cause by overgrowth of bacteria/yeast, improper hygiene can lead to this condition. Both inadequate and too much cleansing can add to the problem. Not completely rinsing the soap after bathing can also create the problem. It can be painful sometimes but is not usually serious.
