Asthma Health Feed

My father is 77 years old and mildly asthmatic. He has been treated with antibiotics and nebulization for 7 days and still complains of mild short breath once in 3 days. Dr. has prescribed to give asthalin nebulization on sos basis. However we are sceptical to give this regularly. Need your guidance if we can give this on a regular need basis or not. If not want is to be done as his xray n other parameters are normal as per reports.

Dear Lybrate user, sos therapy with asthalin is helpful in recovering chest patients. Although it would be best to visit a pulmonologist and get a regular inhaler (to prevent attacks & reduce oral asthma medicines) wishing good health.

Dear Lybrate user, if you have been prescribed an inhaler, it means you have respiratory issue. For a proper diagnosis visit a pulmonologist & get your pulmonary function test. Meanwhile use your inhaler twice daily for best results. Wishing good health.

How To Prevent Asthma Attack?

Tips to prevent asthma attack.

1. Say no to smoking – smoking affects the lungs severely, especially when you are going through the asthma trouble. In most of the asthma cases, the rate of wheezing or coughing steps up when the patient is exposed to a smoky environment. An asthma patient must not allow anyone to smoke around them or avoid places where he/she is prone to smoke. Not only the tobacco smoke but any kind of smoke inside the home must be removed using exhauster appliance.

2. Avoid stress – too much excitement also acts as a trigger to asthma attack. Try to remain in a balanced state. Accept all kinds of emotional stuff lightly. Find a workplace that offers you a serene atmosphere and a tolerable pressure of work. Avoid arguments with people.

3. Avoid extreme temperatures – try to make yourself comfortable in a normal temperature. Avoid excessively hot or chilled environment exposure. Keep the air condition temperature normal. Say goodbye to the humid environment. The fresh morning environment exposure is a good natural treatment for asthma.

4. Maintain cleanliness around – dust is the most trigger for asthma patients. Whether you are an asthma patient or not, you may be allergic to dust and find yourself in a terrible sneezing situation after the dust exposure. It is better to keep the household interiors clean. Maintain regular cleaning.

5. Remove damp inside home – damp also adds on to asthma attacks and you must have a dehumidifier in your home.

I have nose congestion and dryness of nose to ac. I am using telecast f table and fluticone ft nasal spray. It’s not reducing the nose congestion. Since I have asthma I am using foracort 200 rotacaps daily twice. If I have more congestion I am using foracort 200 instead of twice taking three time.

You are taking the right treatment. Continue all, I hope nasal spray you are taking at least twice a day. If your symptoms do not improve with these, you may need a course of oral steroids. I am available for online consultation.

You need to get yourself evaluated by pulmonologist near u. I doubt pft can be done at this hour (due to covid 19 threat) but you will surely get proper guidance. Only oral tablets is not a good solution for asthma. Inhalers are required even if in small quantity. Also visit a gynaecologist regarding your menstrual problem ,take care.
