Regards lybrate-user. Rheumatic fever occurs mostly in young age/childhood. Rheumatic fever could cause polyarthritis (that means joint pain and swelling of many joints). The pattern could be symmetrical in both sides and it could move from one joint to another. As the disease gets controlled, the joint pains will also reduce gradually. It is essential that one follows the recommendation of their physician through the course of medication for successful outcome.
